I hit 268 KPH indicated last weekend. I think I was going downhill a little. Anyway, too much wind and never again........for a while.:angel:

I think I've hit 120. Still on the original tires but they've been plugged twice ... once the day after I got the bike. I don't trust that tire anymore

 

I hit 171 indicated on the back straight at California Speedway.

I was flat on the tank and fitted the passenger seat, too. I moved my butt back onto the front edge of the rear seat, I had removed the mirrors and indicators, and I was wearing one-piece leathers.



I have no idea how fast that really was; the guy on the R1 seemed surprised when I zipped by him, though. :dance:

On the street? (Looks around for cops) 150. :woot:

 

By the speedo I did $1.60 and it had some left in it. Needless to say I was tucked in real tight. :FIREdevil

That was the only time I made it past 120, did 120 MANY times.

 

:mecry: I've only seen 158 on the speedo on the street. I have yet to do a track day.... But hopefully this summer I can do one.

I have never riden my bike past a indacated 140-something but that was on a track I swear it was ok mabey a bridge but I never squid around ok somethimes I do but not that much.:silly:

Wow bread. Are you serious? I'm just wondering because if I were to always obey speed limits then the Z1000 would not have been the bike I'd buy. There are many safer, more comfortable, storage capable ones out there. Not to mention, isn't your bike a little tricked out?:dunno:
P.S. I stopped at 140mph (that damn wind). My R6 treated 140 like it was nothing, but this thing..wow!

i dont see how you guys are getting that fast...are you changing the gear ratio?? iv have mine at 155...160 and that was red line..cant go any faster...like we really need too.

 

:headbang: Well I've only had mine to 105 to 110 but I only started riding a little over a month agoand the weather hasn't really permitted too much of that kind of riding. Wind, rain and such. That and I do try to be as safe on my bike as I can it's just so hard to be good on a bike that beggs to be road fast and hard!!:headbang:

 

z1000newbie;

I know that I am past redline but haven't hit the rev limiter in top gear yet. I've been thinking of going up one tooth in the rear to see if there is more in it.

There is a reason God put rev limiters on our bikes. That's where the shift point is.

 

:killingme :killingme :killingme :killingme That's good. I don't think a ride goes by where I don't take my RPM's up to around 10k at least. I've got problems, I know. But man I love speed.

 

i understand that..and trust me i have had mine past red line and bouncin off the limiter...but i feel the z1000 is a little sloppy when the speed reaches 150.

i had mine around 160 the other day and must of hit a small bump in the road...the front end started to shimmy and though it was my time to hit the dirt...

had a zx6r before this bike and at 160 it was like a rocket on rails...never got nervous...

Z1000 is a good bike though..very pleased!!

 

That's why I have a gixxer thou front end including the clip-ons. My zed felt vauge up front just like you describe. It doesn't anymore.

 

Top Speed

I have had my 04 ZX10R regestering 189mph(we all know they don't give ture readings) but to see it gives you the willies. It will read 104 in 1st, 154 in 3rd and 189 in 5th. 6th is for overdrive, no faster but less RPM's. And we do have lots of good back roads for this kind of fun here in south Mississippi.:alcy:
