Scorpion helmet tight fit

A couple of months ago I purchased a Scorpion helmet in the same size as the HJC CL-14 helmet I purchased when I got my bike. The Scorpion seemed a little tight, but I chose it instead of going up a size, trying to anticipate that the padding might compact a little with wear.

Well, the padding has not compacted, but I am having a hard time going back to the HJC. I'm now used to the Scorpion's tighter fit, but the air flow is much better than the HJC's; the shield will stay in the partially open position even at highway speed; changing from the smoke to the clear screen (for those days when I work laaaaaaaate) is so simple, even I can do it; wind noise is tremendously reduced; and it seems lots lighter.

The kicker, the HJC, because there is so much space between my cheeks and the helment, seems less safe. (Don't get me wrong, it still passes all the helmet-fitting tests. It just doesn't hug my cheeks and I've grown accustomed to that with the Scorpion.)

I just wanted to say something about this because I have talked with some guys and read about others who feel the need to bump up a size with Scorpion. I wanted to say that if you can get used to your head being "hugged" then bumping up might not be necessary. Your mileage may vary.

You could always take out the cheek pads and set some book on them overnight, that will make them compress a little.

Snug is better.

My wife would second these thoughts. When trying them on, she didn't even try the small (the size she ended up getting) at first because the cheek pads are really snug when putting on the lid. I urged her to go ahead and pry it on. After getting it mounted, she decided it was the size she needed. Being a cruiser rider ('03 Shadow Spirit 750) she was reluctant to get a full face. Now that she has had it for 4-5 months, she won't EVER go back; she <3 it. Also noted is that it is fairly quiet, probably due to the tighter cheek pads that kep the under helmet air to a minimum. I know that when I am up for a new lid, while I really like my AGV, a Scorpion will be the first I try out.

When I first tried on my AGV helmet it was the same deal, I thought holy cow this is tight, but it was a GOOD tight. I rode a couple months and didn't think the cheek pads would compress either, but now they are conformed to my face and it's still tight. I've heard only good things about Scorpion.

I ran into the same problem with the HJC the pads at first kinda huged my cheeks but after awhile they didn't. I didn't mind it much but when it's time to step it up and hit some speeds the helmet giggles cause there not squezzing the cheeks.
I'm told diff helmets have diff fits and ofcourse all people have diff head shapes so I'll just go from shop to shop trying diff helmets on till I run into one that meets my demands.
