Is there any technique to getting a bike on a rear stand without the help of a second person? More often than not when I want to work on the bike i'm generally alone but haven't really figured out a safe way to get the bike up alone.

Using a Woodcraft stand with Woodcraft spindles.

Thanks

I just grab the passenger handrail straighten the bike up and slide the stand in place and lift the bike.

hold the bike upright with left hand and left knee. bend down and press stand down to lift while holding it upright. never had a problem.

+1 Once the stand is properly positioned on the spools you can stop holding the bike. Then use your fully body to press down on the stand to pop it up. If the bike starts falling, then grab it. I have man handled my bike on more than one occasion (I weigh 150 pounds), its not that heavy.

wow... that looks really simple. could practically use every day when i put the bike in the garage for the night.

So you never lock your bars when storing it in the garage?

also if you have grab handles on your ninja it makes it so much easier to get it on the rear stand

I don't have a problem getting the bike ON the stand, it's letting it off that's tricky. With a standard rear pit-bull stand the lever/arm is out behind the bike, so it's tricky to hold the bike upright and still reach down and back to leverage the stand. Any tricks or suggestions for setting the bike back on the ground, solo?

I have the pit bull stand and when I go to take it off I make sure the kickstand is down and locked forward. I grab the left side of the seat and as I pull up on the lever i let the bike rest on my left leg and keep pulling up on the stand until the bike is resting on the kickstand. I have never had a problem

That's the same basic technique I use, I'm just not a very big guy. Short arms and legs... :help: :D

to get the bike off the stand...i just put my foot by the stand wheel (to keep it from rolling forward). then i just rock the bike forward till it tips of the stand. works get and i'm a small person (5'8 and 120lbs).

As obvious as that is, I probably never would have thought to do that. I'll have to give it a shot next time, thanks for the idea.
