Depends which financing you are going through. Their usual financing promotion of low payments for a few months is actually financed much like a credit card, and you probably won't have any problem qualifying. The downside is you will have a high interest rate after the promotional period. The upside is, the bike is not tied to the loan as colateral, so you have more choices in insurance coverage.
Of course this info was 2 years ago when I was looking at one before I bought used.

if times have not changed Kawasaki as well as Suzycyle us HSBC Bank for most of the loans and offers they have, I have seen 17 yr olds with no experience or credit for that matter walk in with a job and wobble out on a bike...I forsee no problems.. Just make sure to refinance or pay off early cus the percentage is usually like 18 or 20 after the promo, I refinanced at 8% cuz they bike was not new.

kawasaki uses retail services i got 3.9 for two years then 6.9 for the remainder not a bad deal :thud:

6.9 is a good rate for a bike purchase. Suzuki's best offer (also through HSBC) is 12%.

Even though this is essentially a credit card, the issuer will still be considered a lienholder on your title. I don't know if an insurance company would require full coverage, though.

Watch out for the fine print on missing payments. Most of these deals kick up to 20% or so if you go more than 30 days late.

When I financed my new 2003 Z1000 through Kawasaki back in July my credit rating was 780. I got approved for $10K with 3.9% for the first 24 months, then 6.9% thereafter.

Yes, I've looked mine over thoroughly. That's ALL it is - a credit card. My dealer never asked me once if I had insurance before I left. Oh yeah, and if you only make the minimum payment of $50, a measely $15 a month goes to the principle.

Even the dealer told me this: DO NOT default on a payment or it automatically goes up to 18 - 20%.

Yea Kawasaki uses Retail Services and that company is a joke!!!!! (Yamaha uses them also). They will finace anyone. Also if you have to sell the bike don't plan on less then a month to get the title, 2 months in some cases. They will tell you anything over the phone they don't care as long as you are paying them. Also watch the rates like others have said, they start low but they will jump up huge!!!

they may be a joke but the interest rate is great just dont be late or like someone else said they will jack the rate up. long as you pay ontime no problems

"Retail Services" is the company that handles the payments; HSBC (a Chinese bank with HQ in London) is the actual lender. There is nothing inherently wrong with using Kaw's loan/credit card thru HSBC. The rates for bike purchases are great. As others have said, make sure you pay off the balance within the specified period, and don't make a late payment. Of course, HSBC is banking on the fact that many folks will either mess up (and then the rate goes up to loan-shark rates) or buy items other than bikes (in which case the rates are merely very high). I financed my new '03 ZR thru the Kaw/HSBC program at IIRC 3.9%, paid it off within 7 - 8 months and so paid squat for interest.

HSBC or Household Credit is the finance co. as everyone has said. And just like any other high risk credit card, if you have no or little credit and a decent paying job they'll issue you anywhere between $5000-$10000. You need to have good scores and high income to receive better than that. Now, if you have a limit less than $10000, you are not required to keep full coverage on your bike, only the minimum allowed by your state. $10000 or more the dealer is supposed to get your full coverage information for HSBC to pay them.

can gg suggest.....

.....that you stick with ZX7, save a few of Uncle Sam's greenbacks and then avoid the loan shark's interest altogether.

gg@laemchabangthailand, ava good day

I have used HSBC to finance 4 different bikes/ATVs. I've never had a problem with them. I pay everything off early so the increased interest has never been an issue. Like everyone else said DO NOT be late on any of your payments. If you don't have the cash up front, but know you can pay it off early or transfer the balance to something else financing is an okay option. Sure paying cash is the best way, but I'm far to impatient for that. I'd rather play now and pay later then wait and play eventually. Thats just me though.

My other half Had just started her new job this spring when she financed through kawasaki. The interest rate was really low just don't be late with the payment. Our dealer found out in 15 minutes for her and the same thing with my wheeler so you should know by now.
