Corbin seat height?

I would like to upgrade the stock seat on my bike, but being that I'm 6'7", I need all the height I can get. Looking at pictures of the Corbin seats, they look like they are lower than the stockers. Is this the case? I'm planning to do some touring with the bike and having a more comfortable seat doesn't do me much good if I'm cutting circulation off in my legs because me knees are bent too far. :doh

What have your experiences been?

I'm 6-4 and feel your pain. The Corbin is lower than stock, but the dish is farther back and the seat is much wider than stock at the dish. Also the padding doesn't compress down like the stock seat, so the seat winds up being about the same height. Being a custom seat though, I'm sure you can ask them to build up the seat for an additional cost. Same with a Sargent seat too I'd imagine.

You might want to go to Wild Hair Accessories and look at the peg lowering kits. Kind of expensive, and no rubber insert so you might get more vibes, but you will get and inch or more of precious leg room.

I guess I'll have to give Corbin a call. I don't want to (and don't really have the money--college) fork up the cash for a new one if I can find a used one, but it might be something I just have to bite the bullet on for longer trips.

As for the peg lowering, I think I'll stay away from that. I need to keep my feet as far away from the pavement as possible. As it is I have to put my toes up on the pegs or my toes drag on the ground when I'm turning. :doh

+1 for having a seat made taller. And you know what they say about men with big feet... They wear big boots!

I'm a shorty, at 6'2". But I am mostly tall in my torso. I have a corbin. You couldn't pay me to get me back on the stock seat.
You could always put bar risers on (they don't even have to be that tall) and sit on the pillion seat if you needed more legroom. :)
That is what I do to cool off the butt and stretch a bit on long, hot, all day rides.
You could also fashion some kind of highway pegs as well. You wouldn't be able to use them in stop and go traffic. But, once again, it would give you a different riding position for a break. I use my crash guards as highway pegs, but only on straights.

Funny that you mention sitting on the back seat. I do this every now and then anyway. I'm tall enough I can sit there, lean forward and rest my elbows on my knees and still control the bike just fine. The only problem there is when I have the lady on the back, then it doesn't work so well.

I'm planning on picking up a set of renntec engine guards for the bike and I've thought about highway pegs on those, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to get any extra leg extension at all. From sitting on the bike and putting my feet out about where I think they would be, I'm just kissing my knees with out any benefit. Do you have any pictures of your highway pegs? Maybe something with you sitting on the bike with them?

I'll have to see how the cash flow goes. If I don't end up getting a new seat sometime this spring or summer, I'll just have to take for frequent breaks and stretch my legs/butt.

Here are two pics. One with the OEM guards. My heels used to rest nicely in the top corners of the bars. Lots of room there.

The Rentec caused a bit more problem because there wasn't as much room with that long parallel bar running to the carbs. I use to rest my boot on that bar but it raised my centre of gravity too much.
Then I discovered that I could hook my heel of my boot in the top corner again, as long as I didn't mind too much that part of my boot would be touching the cylinder head fins. You couldn't smell the rubber melting. j/k
That was fun for a little bit.
Riding solo is fine, 2up was always a problem.
Solo, I could put my feet on the passenger pegs, the crash guards, dangle them off just off of the roadway.
2up, with my 6'2" son, didn't give that much choice. Just stop every hour or so and get off the bike for 5 minutes.

Thanks for the pics! How much room is there between the renntec's and the engine covers? Is there any room to put clamp on highway pegs there? That's what I've been thinking about doing to get my feet as far away as possible (hopefully) with out kissing my knees all the time. It's looks pretty close there in your picture, but it's from the wrong angle to tell for sure.

I'll have to take a second look at the bike when I get home again in a couple weeks. Maybe the combination of moving the sitting position further back with a Corbin and putting on highway pegs would allow me to "stretch" my legs out a little more.

Why not put some accessory pegs on the guards?
