I took two hours but couldn't take it out so at last i called a lock expert and he then helped me taking out the key from the ignition and helped me from spending bucks from getting an emergency lockout service.

2. Shake the bike until the leftover piece of key rattle loose(may take as long as forever)

Hey the keys that the locksmith made me with my key code work great for my ignition, but I cant get the key to unlock the the seat. do I have any options other than taking it up to that locksmith?

 

Try some graphite dry lube in the lock, have the locksmith recheck the key... All else fails, Rezxz has a funny prospect... I hope to remember him the next time I have a key stuck in the ignition or tank

 

Yep, that should work too. I just have to stress that you have to be extremely careful not to stick the opening shut. Could easily make a bad situation worse. Best to use just a little, if its top little, it'll just break loose and you try again. Takes patience

hmmm....it may be a little late for this....BUT

If you take a small object (Allen Wrench, drill bit, screwdriver) and put some JBweld on the very tip of it, you can stick the key to the end of it and pull it out once it dries.. just be EXTREMELY careful not to JBWELD it IN THE HOLE, then you'll have way bigger problems.

Reminds me of a friend who had his car stolen. After it was recovered, he could only start it with a screwdriver for the next 6 months.

I ended up taking a hammer and a flathead screwdriver and hammering it in there some more, just so I could get it open. Now its like a keyless entry just have to twist it with an object.

 

Locksmith is really the best way. My friend had to take his bike there when he broke his key off in the ignition. They had it out within a few hours.

The gas caps on these bikes suck!!! i cant count how many times ive been out of gas, at a gas station and couldnt open my tank and pushing and jiggleing and twisting the key until it ALMOST snapped off, i went through both of my original keys twisting until i just spange for a Vortex keyless as cap, i love it, no more problems

 

Put a dab of super glue on the Key head then touch to the broken portion in the gas cap, hold for 60 seconds then pull.

 

like said before, always put pressure on cap with one hand and turn key with other. graphite is a marvelous lube, its a dry lube so it doesn't attract much dirt. Use it on door locks, ignition switches, hinges, etc. As for getting key out, if you have a spare, ride your bike to a locksmith, they have all sorts of handy dandy gadgets and tricks to get keys out. I have the luxury of knowing a locksmith and hes taught he quite a bit about locks, i can even pick most locks too. If that doesn't work you can always grab a big f-ing hammer lol.

 

You can't remove the gas cap without unlocking it or completely destroying it.

 

Ride over to a local locksmith

 

I am really disappointed in my local kawasaki shop! They are so unhelpful. They make me not even want to ride my Ninja. Haha........ I can not get this darn get out to save my life... I have no idea what to do. Anybody find a gas cap to replace it?

 

How about a magnet? If it's not totally jammed in there it should be able to suck it up and out.

 

2012-2013 manual instructs to press on the cap only and not touch the key, it turns on its own and the cap clicks shut then you pull out the key

 

yep, except i did not read about it. i was experimenting when i decided that was the best way to keep from twisting or breaking the key. and, um, i DID twist the other key. i do not use it now but it'll work in a pinch.

 

A dental pick tool might be helpful
