Approximate Center of Gravity Height, in Inches

Can anyone guestimate how high in inches the ninja's CG is from the ground?

I'm trying to do a little calculation about the force required to lift it off the
ground from the handlebars. For example if the 650's handlebars are 40
inches off the ground, and its CG is 20 inches from the ground, you'd have
to deadlift half the bike's weight, or roughly 200lbs, to get it off the ground.

If the CG is lower, the job gets easier; if the CG is higher, it gets harder.

Anyone?

I am trying to understand the question. If I read what you wrote literally, you have to lift the entire bikes weight to get it off the ground.

Now if you are talking about just lifting up the front end and leaving the rear wheel on the ground then that is a different matter all together.

You need to know the vector distance of the handlebars from the pivot point. The CG vector in realation to the pivot point as well.

Is that what you are looking for?

OK, I wasn't clear. Say the bike has fallen over on its side. You're trying
to lift it back to its normal position on two wheels, not lift one or more wheels
off the ground or lift it over your head. :D

With the handle bars at twice the CG height, it should in theory require pulling
half the bikes weight to lift it off the ground (and back onto two wheels).
The 1/2 comes from the mechanic advantage of the lever principle.

I don't remember all the formulas (to many years ago) but from what you are saying would only apply to say a six foot long railroad tie that is flat on the ground.

The bike is never flat on the ground so you still have to use vectors and angles to determine the force you have to apply to get the bike moving. Then as soon as you get it moving the vectors, angles, and forces change.

Then you have to factor in the proper way to lift a bike is with the handlebars turned which changes the pivot point on the bike.

Are you planning on having to pick it up this way alot?? If it is too heavy for you just empty out the gas before you pick it up...haha. It is not that bad to pick this bike up by yourself. I would say it feels like picking up 150-180 lbs. I have picked mine up with both stock handlebars and sport bars, neither gave me much problem, both times I kept it running while I picked it up. Adrenaline will help you more than knowing the CG in these situations
