Hello folks

I'm looking for CHEAP leather boots that will be sufficient for taking the MSF course and subsequent (small amount of) riding. The reason I want them cheap is that I'm ordering a pair of Altbergs, but they are not gonna arrive soon enough for the MSF, and I currently don't own any other leather boots.

I've found several boots, but not completely confident they will do the job:

Magnum Response 6" Duty Boot or 8""

LawPro 8" Dispatch Duty Boot

or maybe this PHASER BURST

And I've heard bad things about Timberlands, so I stayed away from them.

Any comments or suggestions are welcomed. And I'm located in California.

Thanks
-R.

Anything that covers the ankle is appropriate for MSF, I think I wore an old pair of Doc Martens. I recently bought a pair of steel toes at Wal-mart for $26 and they are lightweight, and comfortable enough. It's not like wearing sneakers, but I would wear them all day and my feet never hurt. They are the ones that say "Swat" on them, I forget the brand.

gnrunner, you didn't state where you are located, but, here in Virginia it is also as Scrubdog stated. You just need a shoe that covers the ankle. I had a pair of timberland "hiking boots" that fit the bill for me. They even have a bit of mesh in the side ventilating them. I still where them when it's warm out. Although I do also have a full lether, mid-calf pair of boots now that I use primarily for cold weather riding.

Well, I think I'm gonna go ahead and get some hiking shoes, the upper is all leather, so that should be good.
Thanks guys
Good idea. Buy something that you'll wear often enough to make the purchase worth it, even if you won't be riding in them regularly.

And good luck in the MSF class. I'm taking it here next weekend! :woot:
