i remember a while back (on the old forums) reading about tank bags that people were using. i searched but couldn't find that thread. so, what do you all suggest for a tank bag on a 2001 zr-7s? will i be able to store raingear and extra gloves in one (are they big enough?)
thanks!

I bought the MG950 model from a local dealer here and I don't think I could have found a bag better than this! It's got a carbon fiber look to the side panels, (which should match the Corbin seat I'm getting for Christmas), and the accent color adds a nice custom touch to match the bike. I have the Givi Hard Luggage, so storage isn't an issue. I wanted something that I could carry my stuff with when I didn't feel like putting the luggage on though. I can't remember the price of the bag, but I'm pretty sure it was under $50. I highly recommend it!

I got the CMB 300 (Pro Magnetic Expandable Tank Bag) from a local yokel dealer. Cost just under $90. Very sweet. Phone, drinks, smokes, air pressure gauge, etc........all nice and neat. Now I don't have to stick everything in my jacket pockets. I own the 7 not the 7s, but I don't think there would be any problem. The bag has the Carbon look which matches the Corbin on my bike. Oh yea, the bag came with 3 nice add-ons. It has a map overlay that will hold a real size map. It snaps on and off. It came with a rain cover which is handy. It also came with a strap so you can carry the bag over the shoulder if needed.

Zr-7S tank bags

I bought the JOE ROCKET BLASTER tank bag and let me tell you...it is one nice tank bag! Heavy Duty. It is the magnetic type and I love it. I bought it for dealer price at $39.99. Can't beat it for the price. Hell, you can't beat it for $100! Retail is about $60 plus tax.

well,i finally got one

i bought a tourmaster magnetic tank bag this weekend. it has 3 seperate parts, the magnetic piece, a medium size compartment and a small compartment. you can have both compartments on(they just zip together/apart real easylike) for a HUGE tank bag or just the medium one for a pretty good sized bag or just the small one for a "i gotta go buy a magazine and a paper" trip. so far i love it. when i first got it i stuffed 2 full rainsuits, a spare long sleeve t-shirt, spare gloves and some tools in it with room to spare. the magnets kick butt, that bags not going anywhere. it has side pockets for wallets/phones etc and it has a change/key pocket that is easy to get into with gloves on. when stopped i can just pull it right off and use the shoulder strap to carry it around. it even turns into a backpack!
i also ordered some Alpinestars st-1 gloves... i will let y'all know how they are after i get 'em.

:D

I bought the Wolfman Large Magbag. I love it. Very well made. Made in U.S.
I get into analysis paralysis whenever I buy anything. All my research lead me to fork out my bucks for this one. $99.00.
It has zippered expansion, a removable map pocket, key holder and a padded interior. 9-25 pound magnets for grip. Downside is that you have to pay another 6 bucks for a strap.
My second choice was the Joe Rocket model that converts into a backpack. It can be used as a smaller bag, or a super large bag when both halves are zipped together. The backpack option is very cool.

There are a lot of tankbags out there, but I personally wouldn't put any brand on my bike other than an RKA. This is because of the fleece backing they put on their bags, and fleece strap covers. They are a bit more expensive than other brands, but quality is great. I am even getting 47 liter saddlebags from them that have the fleece backing. I am very picky about scratching my bike, so I won't even strap bungees to it. You can learn more about RKA bags at www.rka-luggage.com.

I bought it at the local dealer. I told him I would buy the tank bag and the pipe if he would give me 10% off. He agreed.
