Hello guys!
I recently bought a 2006 z750 with 70k kms on it, and it's a wonderful machine. But I found a very disturbing problem.
Sometimes when I downshift(especially from 6,5,4) it gets in to the lower gear for a moment, and then jumps back from where I started. Sometimes it even jumps out to neutral.
I don't know what kind of oil was in it before, we changed is yesterday to 10w40 Motul 5100 with Hiflofiltro 204, but today it happened again.
Sometimes it doesn't do it for a week, then it does for a lot of times. I always rev match, and I would think I push down on the gear lever fairly strong, so I doesn't really get what's happening here.
Anyone had this issue before?

I had similar problems with mine after many years of owning it....I found that where the shifting mechanism on my 2007 goes through the foot peg was the issue. The lube at this point got all gummy and needed to be cleaned and relubed it was causing the shifter to be all wonky in the gears...maybe this is the problem?

I take mine off about once a year or so, never had it jump out of gear after engaging the next one but I have experienced some missed shifts where it disengaged but didn't make it to the next one, after taking the lever off and cleaning / lubricating it (I use white grease) it goes back to normal. Once it's in a gear it really shouldn't be affected by the lever unless the lever is binding so bad that its not going back to center and the gear isn't fully engaged. Taking care to push completely up or down helps of course but sometimes I get in a bit to much of a hurry, we probably all do when trying to speed shift at times but a well lubed shifter pivot will make it easier. Hopefully its not so far gone that the seals are shot and it won't cost anything but time and a little lube.

Thanks guys. I took it apart today, cleaned and greased the joints. One of the dust boot is pretty worn, but so far I havent been able to find new ones in my vicinity(Hungary) just on ebay. But I would rather not pay 18 pound with shipping for some rubber part.
Otherwise we'll see in the coming days if it fixed the problem or not. As I said sometimes it does it for 5 times a day, sometimes not for a few days.
