Just bought a 2000 Bandit 600, as a fixerupper. Oh what have i done?
Im new to biking and armed with little or no bike knowledge...
Got the Bandit all seemed well on the test ride, but once i got it home im finding all sorts of little problems, It was originally a faired model but the previous owner has removed the fairing, fitted twin lights and an after market speedo.
The lights dont come on all the time from the switch, flash doesnt work at all, the speedo reads nothing like the real speed...
on top of that the indicators are practically invisible when riding, so i need some of them as well?
Im in Nottingham and could really do with an idea where to take it to get looked at, and not get ripped off.
Oh and i need a mirror too!
Any help here?

Cheers

Your problems seem rather minor if the engine, trans and suspension are in good shape. The speedometer reading incorrectly might be due to a previous owner installing a different sprocket...that would cause it to read faster or slower than your really traveling. Lighting problems like you're having are predictable if the previous owner did the headlight swap himself rather than have a pro do the wiring. I would take it to an independent motorcycle repair shop and have them take a look at the wiring and any other minor issues that are plaguing the bike. Bandits are pretty reliable bikes and once you get these issues sorted out you'll come to appreciate the Bandit.

Thanks for the help my friend. after digging through all sorts of insulating tape and scotch locks under the seat, its gone off to the bike electrician.... Sort the indicators (which packed up also) sort the headlights and remove the old alarm. After that im gonna try and figure this speedo issue out? Its a digital unit i think its a Vaypour, and its seriously wrong, reading 17mph i figure im doing 30ish? and it gets worse the faster i go??? Anyone got any recomendations? or has anyone got any suggestions of a better unit?
Cheers
And by the way. i still love it, even though its costing me...
