I am a new member to this forum. Been riding since 1972. 57 years old in upstate NY. I wanted to try a sport Bike and the local Suzuki dealer, who I have done business off and on with for 25 years, had a 2007 Bandit left over. I read everything you folks wrote in this forum and could find no reason not to try it. Thanks. I have been riding cruisers. The last 4 were Harley Electroglides. The last two were 05 and then 07 Screamin Eagle electroglides. Heated seat, grips, fairing. windshield, lowers, etc extend my riding season. I am really looking forward to getting on the Bandit. Thanks Again.

I hope it serves you well. After riding my E-Glide for a couple years I rode my friends Road King with out the fairing and I have to say I'm pretty spoiled with the fairing.
Welcome

tompen,

Welcome to the forum. You’re going to love your Bandit. I’ve had mine for almost six months and have been averaging about 1,000 miles per month.

I rode a Harley Sportster for about 20 years. In fact, I rode it back to Buffalo, N.Y. in 1969 to visit family. That’s where my dad was from. I lived there, and later, in Tonawanda, as a kid. My dad left New York in 1953 and moved to California. when I was seven years old I started riding in 1962 on a Harley Davidson Topper motor scooter. My brother and I traded it in for a Sprint and then branched out into many other types of bikes over the years.

I still remember the empty narrow country roads around Buffalo where, as a kid, I used to see guys on motorcycles riding all over. Groups of them would come to spend the day in Lincoln Park across the street from my house. I wanted to grow up to be able to do that too. I don’t miss the galoshes and the snow, which inevitably turns to brown slush. It must be torture having the Bandit and not being able to ride it much yet. Sometimes I get bored (I’m retired) and decide to go for a short ride. Once on the Bandit, I can’t quit. I’ll end up going a hundred miles or more.

I went back to Buffalo to visit family about 10 years ago (flew). Those roads I remember don’t exist anymore around Tonawanda. They’re now twice as wide and full of bumper-to-bumper traffic. What a shame! But it’s still nice around places like Eden and Pembroke.

I’d like to ride the Bandit back there, but all of my aunts and uncles have passed on and only one cousin remains in that area. I don’t know where she is. She’s kind of dropped out of sight.

Anyway, welcome aboard. Lots of the guys here are in our age group.

Mark
