Got an 'Ascot' bar from Jack Lilley http://www.triumphnet.com/lilley/ascot/
The bars are slightly taller and wider than the standard ZR7 ones.
Feel more comfortable on the bike, hand numbness has disappeared.
Off bike manoeuring is now also much easier.
Brake line from master cylinder has to be relplced with a longer one, and all other cables routed from rear of forks.
Knurling on 'Ascot' bars not quite in line with ZR7 bars so now need bar clamp to 'hide' exposed knurling.
All in all quite satisfied with conversion, gives the bike a more tracker look.

All we need now is for Andy to post a photoshopped ZR with ape-hangers!

Nice job Mike!

The ape hangers look great. However the ZR just doesn't look complete until you chop it.

Andy, can you post a step by step on the modification, and put it up on the tips page ? This is the look I've been longing for ever since I first swung a leg over the ZR. Do any of you guys think the new bars and forks would effect handling ? Can I do the mod on the older blue version, or will it only with the red color ?
