My wife just got herself a 2017 1K to upgrade from her Ninja 650. She got it from a big box dealer in Mississippi.
Incidentally, we had it shipped here to Chicagoland by HaulBikes.com and they did a fine job apart from taking longer than the advertised 21-28 days. It wound up being 49 days.
Interestingly, the owner's manual had a note from the original owner saying the buyer should call him for more info.
So we called the gentleman and had a very pleasant discussion. He'd replaced the 1K with a Gold Wing DCT, having traded in the Ninja at (his) age 82.
I asked him about the commonly-discussed front sprocket change, adding a tooth. He vehemently insisted we not do that. He had done the mod and while the bike ran well at first, it began to have inexplicable ECU issues and running erratically. The dealer was unable to figure out the problem for a long time, until in desperation they re-installed the original front sprocket and the problem went away.
Has this happened to anyone?
