I was just thinking about that last week. I am up for it if anyone else is. I will definitely be taking a week sometime in May to ride in the mountains whether it is ROTR or not. It has been a long winter.

Sorry to hear you will not be able to make again this year John. I hope the shoulder heals fast.

Thanks Rob. last time I had this done I was 15 years younger and it was less torn up. I tore it bad this time and will be in this sling not allowed to move my shoulder at all until april 16 then I start pt. I still have my tiger. Almost had it sold twice last year. First guy got his panties in a wad when I asked him to meet me half way between his offer and my asking price. second guy has an older Triumph Bonneville but his Harley buddies gave him grief about the Tiger so he bought a Harley instead.

Anyway. I still have the tiger. barely ridden in 3 years now. just not much fun riding here in slower lower delaware. I miss the mountains and the scenery and the friendly people and the guys and ladies at ROTR.
I sold the 66 Mustang last summer. Got tired of spending money and then needing to spend more. Loved the car, but never should have bought it. Should have gone to ROTR 16 instead.

Have fun weather or not ROTR happens. If you dont have Craigs number either he or Jr will respond to a PM. Same for Andrew and probably Michael and …. cant think of his name from Kentucky.

As I posted earlier I am looking at a new bike. I will be picking it up soon (250 miles away). I also had surgery in March (new hip) but am feeling much better and think by May I should be able to go. Count me in.

PS, Nice car Jon

Count me in! Sorry to hear about your shoulder Jon. Hopefully, you will make ROTR one of these years. I, like Rob, plan to ride down south for a little over a week in May. I am looking forward to hooking up for ROTR and hoping we get a good group going.
Good luck with the hip recovery Ed.

Hey Michael. glad to hear you can make it. That makes three and hopefully some others will join in.

I guess we need to decide on a time and place. We have always held it on the weekend between Mothers Day and Memorial day and I suggest we do the same this year which will be 5/16 thru 5/19. This is only seven weeks away.

As far as location goes, we usually Stay in Maggie Valley, Boone or Wytheville. I am leaning towards Maggie Valley or Boone since we were in Wytheville last year. They have opened up a new section of the Foothills Parkway in TN and repaved 28 (Hellbender), 60 south of Suches and I think they repaved the Diamondback and Devils Triangle in the last year or so. Any preferences or new ideas?

5/16-5/19 works for me. I always like Maggie Valley but if anyone feels strongly about Boone, that's good too.

Okay, it looks like the three yay's have it. We will meet in Maggie Valley on the weekend of 5/16 - 5/19. Anyone else who wants to ride some fantastic roads please feel free to join us for all four days or for whatever fits your schedule.

I will call Best Western to check rates this weekend since that is where we have always stayed. There are plenty of places in Maggie Valley but I am not familiar with them so if anyone knows a better place please chime in.

Countdown is at six weeks.

Well, it looks like Best Western is out. I called them this weekend and they only have one room left for Saturday night. She said there is a Hot Rod and Muscle Car show in town that weekend. I will look into some other places but let me know if you find something else that is available. There are plenty of hotels and motels there so we should be able to find something.

I just called Ramada Inn in Maggie Valley and they have availability. It looks similar to Best Western and is just down the road. Ramada Inn only $320 for the four nights as their rates did not increase for the weekend like Best Western did. Let me know if this one sounds good or if anyone else found anything. We should not wait long to make a reservation where ever we stay.

There is also the Microtel right next to Best Western. They have a pool and hot tub in that enclosed building next to the BW. I plan to visit my dad in NC so maybe I can combine that with the same week as ROTR and at least drive over to Maggie Valley and check out the car show while you guys are riding.

Microtel is now Quality Inn. I called them and they have rooms available at $444 for all four nights or $400 with an AAA discount. I called Ramada Inn and they sold out of their cheap rooms so their room is now $393 for four nights.

Any body have a preference? We need to make reservations soon before these places start selling out also.

I think the Quality Inn has the cheaper rates through Bookings.com $320 for 4 nights we are there (Wed thru Sun). Rooms are almost gone though. Who is going, just Rob, Mike and I?

If we can the Quality In at $320 for all four nights I suggest we do that since we are just over three weeks away from check in time on 5/15. Everything else is approximately $400. I checked the Cardinal Inn and it was $400 for all four nights. So far it looks like it is just us three. I have not seen any response from Craig or anyone else.

Jon, are you renting a bike and sidecar for the family? Sounds like fun. Seriously we will have to meet up while we are there. It has been too long.

Just booked at the Quality Inn for four nights at $320 (2 queen beds at bookings.com). They have some rooms left still at this price.
