What are the steps I need to take to repaint my tank and front wheel fender? Its a unique blue color so I need to get that matched somehow. What are the steps to paint over paint on these surfaces? Any input is helpful. If you have any pictures too, that would also help.
I can't really answer your question about what steps are needed for a repaint. HOWEVER, I know that a U.S. 2001 Kawasaki ZR-7S should be RED, not any shade of Blue.... Unless, it had been repainted before. :2cents:
Edit... Just looked a bit closer to your original post... if it is a BLUE ZR-7 (not a 7S) then it is a 2000 model not a 2001. Again :2cents:
well once u got the paint which i found quite hard in the uk, if u cant find the exact colour then u could just paint mach or just get black
u need to sand off the old paint buff it then put down 3 layers of gray primer buffing inbetween each layer then once all the primer is dry (might wanna leave over night) then put down 3 layers of the blue again buffing between layers leave to dry fully, then put down the clear laqure.
if u need any more tips just google how to repaint cars etc (as im not a pro at these things but thats how i do it and it works for me)
as for the persurving the letters on the tank its gunna be hard u might wanna look in to getting a new one
The Candy Plazma Blue that is on my 2000 consists of a metallic silver base coat followed candy blue, probably sevral coats and finally clear coat. I Touched of a small spot on my tank and the front edge of my fender using spray cans from ColorRite. Tank actually came out good. You can still easily see where I did the touch-up but at least its blue and shiny. The fender looked great at first but the clear coat discolored over time. The paint was very expensive. About a hundred bucks for the three cans, silver, blue, and clear. Having a pro do it is probably worth it.
