Considering the 250 vs 650 for a beginners bike debate,
I am guessing the 300 will make the decision to start on a smaller bike easier, especially with the increase in HP of the 300 over the 250, I read it was 39 HP which is about a 20% increase.
On second thought with the initial price tag you are pretty far into used 650 bike price, hmmm
Im having this debate now, Im going to get my first bike in years later this fall or winter.
Im thinking the 300 is pretty close to the perfect starter bike for me, the 650 doable but less than ideal for starter bike. Mostly because I want to spend closer to 3k for first bike rather than 6k. I only know one thing right now, is that whatever bike I think I eventually want wont be the one that I will be looking for once i gain some experience and skills. The first ones going to have to be a minimum investment, used and more than likely ninja 250. Hoping many go on the market and I can get a really nice one for about 3k or a little less. Other option would be to wait and hope to find a used 300 later next year. Dont really want to do that either.

Best article I have seen so far on the 300:

i had a 2012 250r for a few months, it was a hoot. did all kinds of mods but it just needed a little more midrange. this 300 will probably be the most fun you can have on a street bike without getting speeding tickets all the time.

and it comes in white....mmmmmmm

I have owned both a 2008 250 and 2009 650r. I went with the 650r for the power but loved the riding position on it. If the 300 was available I wouldn've bought it. To count the 650r out for a starter bike though.

Looks like a nice machine. Wouldn't mind owning one if I can fit on it.
Twowheel,

Thanks for the Link!

My son will have his Permit on less than 30 days! OMG! I think this will be his first bike! I'm thinking an $800-$1000 depreciation, now that the 2014's are out! Woot Woot!

I'm not sure I would want to ride it......... Then again, it will be titled in my name.

Now, I just need to sell something else to make room for it!
Cheers
