If you are running an aftermarket exhaust then removing the pair valve is a good idea. If you are running a standard exhaust you can still remove it without any harm to your motor. There are kits available online - Ebay for example.

Definitely get rid of it. This is the only kit I've found that deals with the valve itself, otherwise if you just yank it the check engine light will come on. Block off plates themselves are everywhere and easy to find.
