Pair of pics from Oct 10 trackday at GIR

Went to Gateway International Raceway for probably the last time ever on October 10th. The place is for sale, and no events are scheduled for next year. Shame, because it's about 20 minutes from my house, and they had maybe four track days a year for bikes.

Anyway, I pitted next to a guy who works at JMP Cycles in Wood River IL, and we had a pretty good day riding, with excellent weather.

I just recently purchased these two images from that day.

I have to say, Dunlop Sportmax Q2s at 32psi front and rear worked really well for me. My new riding buddy remarked that the Z must have a lot of torque, because I was laying long dark lines from the rear tire on corner exits.

The footpegs on both sides are beveled down now, and at some point I dragged the kickstand pretty hard. I'll take that off for the next track day.

Awesome pics!! Looks like a great day, thanks for posting!
Sweet pic's. I was there on my Z (orange '03) as well. It was my first ever track day. Had a blast and the weather was awesome. I ran the TTT class in the morning and the novice in the afternoon. If you're looking through the track day pics I'm the one on the orange Z, black suite with Kaw green boots.
That sucks they're closing it down, good news about the Q2's b/c that's what I have on my bike and love them.

I saw you! And I've enjoyed the pictures of you and your bike that I've seen online. Let's hope thee will be more Saint Louis area track days in the near future so we can hit the track together.
I had a blast riding on the track. I was very disappointed to hear that Gateway may not host any track days next year as well. Hopefuly they'll get everything sorted out and keep it open. I have family and friend in the STL area and still own a house there but am currently living in Tulsa, OK. A friend of mine had recently picked up a Honda 919 (green one at the track day) and had called me about joining him on the track, so I drove up to St. Louis for the weekend. If they have track days next year I'm sure I'll be back for a few. There is also a track just outside Tulsa that has track days as well, so I'll definately get a chance to hit the track there. http://hallettracing.com/ If you should happen to want to come down for one of the track days down this way let me know, may be able to help set you up with a place to stay or at least meet up with you at the track.
