Hello all!

Just a quick question, I have been looking through search, and so far havent been able to turn up any info.

What should the operating temprature of my 04 z750 run at on a normal day running around town... 76-80 degrees???

Is this too low!!??

When the temp outside is about 22-27

What temp does your z750 run at?

In cooler weather mine runs 150/160 but in the florida hot sun while running it'll stay around 175 or so. Stand stills in traffic though I've seen it go as high as 218/222 but then the fan kicks in. I panic and shut the bike off and start it when traffic moves again

Is that in fahrenheit or celsius?

Ohhhh big mistake not to mention the almighty "c" on the end of 76 ish!

I totally forgot, yes it is Degrees c!!! NOT Farenheit

which is about right, I just converted 150/160 which you guys gave me, farenheit into degrees, and thats low 70's.. And your weather might be cooler or whatever, So when riding mine, 76 degrees, just pottering around would then be correct I assume...

this is on a 25-30'c degree day...

Thanks for the replys, I feel better knowing the operating temprature is right!

there is nothing worse you could possibly wish on a motor then running it cold! - especially if your givin' it some beans!!!

this is a no no as well. When you shut the bike off, you are turning off the water pump and leaving all the coolant in the engine that is already hot to get hotter as the heat from the engine transfers to the coolant. keep it running so the coolant keeps moving through the radiator with the fan on cooling it some.

Hey mate,
I have been worrying over temps too and i ride a Z750 and live in brisbane aswell!! So our ambient temps should be the same. (you dont happen to have a black zed? and ride to QUT? I saw 2 other black 750's there a few days ago)

To answer your questions: When im riding around (on the move) my z750 sit at around 75-85c. (on a 25-28c day) i dont mind the temp when its running its when im stopping that gets me worried

When i'm sitting in traffic it goes up to and sits around 105c!
Is that too hot?
I its a pain in the arse because i commute to uni and the traffic in the city is so bad and theres nothing i can do but sit there sweating away in my leathers watching the temp rise.

Im wondering whether my mods add to generating more heat? (micron slip on, air filer, airbox mod, power comander, dyno tuned)

I think it says in the manual that you shouldn't let it idle for more than 5 mins, and i reckon that i sometimes sit in traffic for more than that, so is this causing damage?

ps. bike is a black 2004 Z750 with 10,000km's on the clock with the mentioned mods above.

I've had my temp at around this, I think I actually saw 105 once, but not for long. When the fan comes on,the temp. drops back down to around 94 or 96 degrees C.(these temps are IN traffic), temp stays around 75, give or take a few degrees when moving.
I've tried a container of "Watter Wetter", and honestly, I don't think it made a difference...although I've seen it make a difference in other vehicles.

this is taken from the manual. if the coolant temp goes above 93~103c the fan will switch on. the fan draws air through the radiator when there is not sufficient air flow such as at low speed. this increases the cooling action of the radiator. when the temp falls below 85~100c the fan turns off. in this way the system controls the engine temp within narrow limits where the engine opperates most efficiently even if the engine load varies.

hey, Nah, I dont have a black one, nor do I go to QUT, just an electrical apprentice... hehe no studying/assignments for me :), but yea, im on the northside of brissy...

Micron slip on aswell, and cant miss me, The bike has been resprayed in kawasaki green. As far as I know its the only green z750 in brisbane?

Just actually picked it up on saturday.

The only reason I was concerned is that, the temp was getting up to the 100 mark trying to get the bike home in traffic from the southside, and Just owning the bike for the first time, I was freaking out, not knowing what the op temp should be...

Im yet to notice the fan kicking in. But this was the only time i have been in thick traffic...

Since then all my riding has been round the 80 degree mark, so all seems A ok! thank god! :)

Thanks for all the input into this topic, has put my mind at ease!!!

I've never seen my temp go above 218 - 220f. Fan kicks on and temp starts to drop. I believe these temps are in the acceptable range.

I would'nt be concerned unless the temps started approaching 230f.
