I've been assuming all along that the oil & filter change interval was 3,000 mi (according to the maintenance schedule), but I just discovered it's 6,000 mi. The dealer changed the oil & filter at 500, 3,000 & 6,000 mi. I decided to do my own at 9,000 and when I checked the owner's manual and service manual I was surprised to find the schedule was 6,000/12,000/18,000 etc.

I went ahead and changed them anyway, and I'll continue to do it at 3,000 mi. intervals (same as my truck). What's everyone else doing?

You are sure that wasn't in kms? The service interval specified here in Australia is 6000 kms. Oil change is performed on every scheduled 6000k service.

I change it every 1500-2000K depending on how hard I rode it during that interval. I just feel better changing it sooner than later:smilewink

Well, the manual says to change the oil at 600 miles and every 6,000 miles after that. That is the way I am going to do it. Kawasaki is not going to tell owners to do anything that is going to hurt the bike as it would tarnish thier image. Though depending on your riding style closer intervals may be a better call.
