I think it's a good idea to talk about the other bikes the members own or ride.
I like almost all bikes except customs, and I own another 3 except the ZR7.
Is anybody else into classics here? I have two BMWs (1957 R26, 1975 R75/6) and a 1983 Yamaha SR500 which I ride as often as I can!
Of course the ZR7 has taken most of my riding time the last year but I love them all and I'm not selling any of them!

Other bikes

I used to ride an old Yamaha XT500 Enduro. I Bought it used, about 15 years ago. My first bike, what an animal this thing was. Had to repair the rear end suspention, axle, swingarm, bearings, ect. I actually put a street tire on the rear, replacing the well worn semi-knobby. I put on a low straight bar replacing the wide enduro handlebar. The tire was mis-matched, warned by parts counter guy, and ignored by me. Mistake. With my lack of street experience, I spilled. Bike stood up when breaked on an entrance ramp to highway. Into curb, off bike. I was scrapped up, bike was sort of totaled. It caused, among other things, motor mount to break. The vibrations then took out the other mounts. Bent and scrapped parts. Oh well, I really loved her, Silver aluminum gas tank, black out engine, polished fins . Till just recent, never again rode. When I first saw a picture of ZR-7 in moto-mag, that was it baby !

Aprilia

I like to take a look down at small fast bikes when thinking about a non ZR-7 ride. Take a good look at some fun stuff offered by Aprilia, the 50cc and 125cc two-stroke race bikes offered by this fine Italian company @ www.aprilia.com. These bikes are under $4K and are legitimate 2 stroke race machines (street legal) too. I'm thinking (seriously) about getting the 125cc bike as a "new" toy. Just depends on the wife (and insurance company), Tom:smilewink

hey tom, a buddy of mine has the 50cc model with a big bore kit to take it up to 80cc. according to him it does 60, not bad! he wanted me to buy it for my girl to get her into riding. when i first saw it i thought it was a 250cc race replica. sweet little bike!

i used to have a v-star 650 classic. nice bike and gives you a total big gike feel. long, low and mean looking in all black. i sold it when i bought the 7. my friend has a newer one, two tone paint and floor boards instead of pegs. nice :)
