I'm new here and I just bought a Z900, I'm in Love sofar! The throttle had too much play for me, so per instructions in the manual, I loosened the lock nut and turned the adjuster until the free play felt right and snaps back with the handlebar in any direction. The question is for anyone who's knowledgeable - the lock nut was originally against the assembly where the cable mounts to the throttle grip, not against the adjuster, which to me wasn't correct. Should the lock nut tighten against the adjuster or the throttle cable part next to the hand grip?

Unless that bike is different for some reason, it should be up against the housing. You may want to consult with your dealer when you bring it in for the first service.

I thought the same thing. Too much free play. The locknut goes against the housing. Mine wasn’t. I’m guessing it just wasn’t tightened enough so it moved itself away from the housing.
