ok so this past winter i stripped down the bike for paint ( including tank removal ) i also tuned her up ( new oils coolant air filter etc )... i put her back together today and now she runs rough, stutters when i snap the throttle, missfiring and this really loud ticking sound from the motor ... so im thinking maybe bad gas as there was some gas left in the tank wich i mixed with new gas .. i'll let her run for 15 minutes see what that does ( tomorrow ) but the ticking almost sounds like its coming from the valves ... i changed the oil to the recommended 10w 40, its mobile 1 synthetic, i never had any noises come from the motor, i've must of done something ... i've read in some places that valve ticking or something similar may be normal ... i'm hoping there just dry and after running it it will go away ... should i use a specific oil maybe use kawasaki oil ... i don't think it will make a difference

thx for the help

What set-up do you have? Is it still factory? Aftermarket exhaust, air intake, do you even have a fuel processor? Maybe you still have your cold idle solonoids and that is what your hearing? They are located inside the right dog bowl cover if you still have it set up that way.

When I started mine up last weekend after its long winters nap, it was ticking abnormally loud too. after a good ride it all settled in, and now it just has the normal ticking it always had. (maybe it just takes time to re-prime the HLA's ?) as for the running rough, cant help ya, mine ran great from the moment i stabbed the starter button, just the extra loud tick! I would check the plugs! If you had the tank painted, and it still had gas in it, any chance some crap got into it, during the sanding, painting?

update

its running great now after running it for 15 minutes ... im assuming it was the little remaining gas left over ... *** for the ticking it intermittently stops comes back the volume of it changes also ... im hoping a good run will eliminate the ticking

thx for the help
