Thank you very much. I found my post again. I will get used to the site. thank you this helps very much. nevertheless I have a second question.
2nd question concerning this cases is can the existing barrels be re adjusted or need to buy new set? what may be cheaper new set in which I can re adjust myself or bring old ones to a locksmith ( if possible to re adjust ). Thank you in advance.
I don't know your style of travel but before you put in too much work or $$$ into this you might consider...
Consider that you cannot remove or open the cases without the key in and you cannot remove the luggage key without the cases being locked. I personally think this is a mistake and while it's clever the case lock/bike lock work together with one key, it's a pain that I can't leave the case in the motel room latched but unlocked.
Given these conditions, the first thing I did was go out and get 2 keys made so I could leave them in the luggage whenever it's off the bike. Other than at the dealership when I picked up the bike, the ignition key has never gone into the luggage locks. I suppose it would be convenient if the ignition key could be used should I lose the luggage keys but spares are cheap.
BTW, Kudos to Ninja 1000 for the link to putting together the luggage. I'm considering replacing the color matched trim since it's getting a little bit dinged up. Now I know how!
does anyone know if the rear cowl (rear seat) on a z1000 is the same as the ninja 1000. found a rear cowl cheap but not indicated if fits a ninja 1000. unless anyone knows where to send me the get a good after market one?
Good news about adjusting the barrel of a ninja 1000 cases. A good locksmith can modify the key barrel to match the ignition key. all you need is a very small and small to medium Philipps screw driver along with a T30 torx bit and bit screw driver ( EBAY has complete sets for cheap, and always good to have around the house ). You have 4x T30 Torx screws inside the case, 2x small to medium Phil screws on inner edge of case, 3x very small Phil screws on outer side. Once these are all removed make sure case is open and pull to separate the lid. Once this is done there's 3 very small screws holding the plastic barrel retainer. Once this removed lock falls off with metal piece and sliding plastic piece. Repeat for other side. Bring the barrels to a locksmith and within a day mine was done for $20 a barrel. Just need to reinstall. Take pictures as you do it so you remember how everything is put together so as to put it back together. Hopefully this helped a fellow rider.

Hello everyone, just picked up a new to me 2014 Thruxton 900. Some small mods have already been done, but can't wait to get out riding! Been a few years since I've rode on the streets, but been in the dirt for awhile.
Hope to see some of you around.
