Welcome new members. I think you will find Riderforums to be one of the friendliest forums there is. The administrators strive to keep all content on a "PG-13" level. Personal attacks and flaming are not tolerated in order to keep this a friendly place. There are alot of good people here and lots of good information. Although it started out as a Kawasaki based forum riders of any type or make of bike are welcome.

Please introduce yourselves.

Greetings from Y-town

Hello everyone involved with cyber-bikedom. Here we are celebrating everything that is motorcycling - the literal sense of poety in motion. We are truly blessed....

I, myself am relatively new to motorcycling, this being my third season on an '82 Nighthawk 450. I've always had a passion for 2 wheeled motion with my fondest memories being riding around on my 2-speed Huffy BMX blue-tired bike (with the throttle-grip shift). The more I ride and learn about the art of motorcycling, the more I love and identify with it.

I've gotten to the point to where I'd really like some more power and am eyeing up a Z750S or FZ6 for the "next level" upgrade. I love having a bike from '82, when I would go to the dealership to check them out and get brochures (I was in love with the Nighthawk S at that time, having no clue of the importing sanctions imposed on bigger bikes during the Reagan era).

That sounds good enough for an introduction. Catch y'all on the forum!

Hi, everyone! I've been lurking here for a little while, and thought it time for me to say hello :) I'm a fairly new rider, about a year now. I started on an '05 Ninja 250R last year and put about 3700 miles on it. I upgraded last month to an '02 ZR-7S in Metallic Blue Violet or "Blurple" as it's called here :p I've put over 2500 miles on it so far. The bike's previous owner wasn't very nice to it, so I did have some routine maintenance to do to it (you mean there was a *chain* under all that gunk?!) Considering the state of the chain, I'm willing to bet he didn't do any of the 2 year maintenance either...oh well at least I'll get a bike fix over the winter :) Other than that, the bike runs well and I love it to death already :)

I've already learned a few tricks about some of the maintenance from posts here (thank you!) Unlike a lot of other women, I don't have a problem with getting dirty and working on my bike. Rather I make a point of knowing how to do at least some stuff and how my bike works in general so that should I ever need to take it to a shop, they can't BS me (I do this with my car too.)

Let's see...anything else...um... Well, my husband rides also. He's got an '02 Vulcan 750 and has way more miles than I will ever catch up to. We ride together a lot and I can truly point the finger at him for getting me started riding :p (He made the mistake of letting me watch one of his MSF classes and I got the idea that it looked like fun and maybe I could do it too ;)

Well, I think that's all for now. Hi!

Welcome Angela. As you know we have a few (very few) women members here. I think it is great that women ride and wish more would. Get your husband to sign up too. The more the merrier.
Welcome to you also 6StringPsycho.

Hello everybody, sorry if I registered and didn't say hello sooner, but I was at work and I couldn't pretend I was working and I don't have Internet access at home. Since it was raining here, I spent great part of my week-end trying to put a zx636 front end on my orange zed. I haven't finish the job yet, but I found many of the posts about that issue very interesting (i.e. the size of the spacers between the fork leg and the calipers). By the way...does anybody know the size of the axle spacers?
Thanks for your help, I'll post some pictures of the pumpkin as soon as I do the job. In the meantime a quick list of the mods:

full Temignoni exhaust 4-1
BMC air filter
home made tail tidy
R1 front master cylinder and front pegs
zx636 front end
renthal motocross bar
home made bar ends
home made engine covers
black tail
replaced horn

Thanks for having me...as my dad wanted me to say when I was a kid, speak to you guys later

Andrea :smokin:

Welcome woodstock. I doubt you'll get an answer to those questions here. Ask them in the Z1000 Performance Upgrades section and you'll probably find out what you need to know.

That's my personal rant to gear makers. They seem to think that all women do is ride on the back yet...and that none of us wear stuff bigger than a size 12. *grumble* Hopefully with more women riders, that will change soon.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

6String, Windrider, Woodstock, Welcome, all of ya's. :)

It's great to see new folks on this forum. Good to see some are getting info from the forum and ZR-7.com sites. And if you can't find it don't hesitate to ask, folks here usually more than willing to help someone else get answers.

Don't forget to post some pics of you bikes, mods, no matter what brand the Ride is. :alcy:

Hello to this website and its members.
I'm a sportsbike rider and just recently scoured google for a nice place to share motorcycle info and opinions. Thats how I found yall'. Actually, I typed in the words 'dragging a knee' and it linked to a thread (the only thread?) in the sportsbike catagory of this site. Yup, (confessional tone) ...my name is Mark and I'm a kneedragger. Indeed I have a website that actually promotes kneedragging. But I digress.

Nice to see you all here. And it's nice to be seen.

M.

Welcome Mark. Some guys drag knees all over this forum, not just in the unfortunately very quiet "sportbike" section. Check out the Z1000 section and the Nebraska sport riders and MAM sections.

Season's Greetings :)

I guess I've been a member for a little while and haven't posted till now.

I'm too am a relative newbie, riding for 2 years now?

My current ride is a honda shadow, but would like to get a sport(ier) bike come next year.

Seems like this is a pretty good place :)

I just now saw this sticky thread.

I have been riding three Kawasakis so far:
  • ZZR 600, 1994 model, 1995-1999
  • ZX-6 R, 2001 model, 2003-2005
  • Z1000, 2005 model, currently
I love the looks of these bikes and each one has its advantages and minor weaknesses ;)

I enjoy this forum because everyone seems very nice and most of all I have not encountered any offenses so far!

Keep up the good work. :headbang:

It's never too late to say welcome...to the US and the website. I hope you enjoy the both of them. I just got back from Munich about a month ago and what a blast Oktoberfest was. What I can remember of it anyways.

Have you narrowed it down yet? Have you asked yourself what you like and don't like about the shadow?

So many considerations to get the bike that fits/works for you rather than the ones everybody else thinks you should get. Let us know, the interaction is usually pretty good here on this subject. And welcome!! :)
