A couple months ago my chain snap and messed up neutral on my bike.

the neutral light doesnt stay on unless i hold the gear shifter in the up positon, this causes the bike not to start unless the clutch is pulled in and the kickstand is up. Ive been trying to figure this out and the shop put on a new neutral safety switch but it didnt fix the problem.

the bike does shift normal, everything feels as it did before the incident. They changed the switch thinking it might be the issue, but it was not. i have not checked the manual i did not get one when i bought the bike so i will have to look that up online. The shop had a theory that the switch node was misaligned with the shifter node inside the transmission, but i dont see how that would happen from a simple chain break

I could and think along those same lines. The amount of energy contained in one of those chains is tremendous when it cut loose it could've released a bunch of energy and maybe cause a jam or something. I think you said you had some problems with the shifter after it happened so that would be my guess.

I had a chain break and go through a case once on and old Honda 305 we were playing with when I was a kid. There's an enormous amount of energy there.
