You want the pilots sized to where you are out 1 1/2 turns on the screw....WHY? You want them correctly sized, and not at the max or minimum side of things. 1 turn is ok, and so is two....three is out there, and not a great idea.

Also, these pilot jets are tiny. Its very common to have them get debris and clog. Especially on an older bike. This acts just like jets sized too small....

Those screws we are talking about......If they are on the engine side of things, they are fuel screws. On the intake side, air screws.

No matter what, they basically allow a controlled leak of air, or fuel.

So, a fuel screw, three turns out, means it needs more fuel, and a larger pilot would do the trick.

If its an air screw three turns out, you need less fuel, so a smaller pilot is needed to achieve 1.5 turns.

I'm not sure what carb you have, but this works for Mikuni and Keihin.

Its not hard, but very important to note just what that screw setting is telling you.

Dont attack all jets at once. Deal with low...get that right.

THEN, move to mid...then top.

All three jets, and slide, cross over somewhat, but its seriously confusing if you make two or three changes at once.

The theory is quite sound.. Will start some investigating. just did a 25 km ride real easy... B roads nothing higher than 5000 rpm... Felt good..... :) Will build it up from here.

Last seen 2015 - unlikely you will get a reply. Try the Wiseco site. From memory, most ring gaps are fairly standard.

kzrider is an active site full of members who have no desire for a liquid cooled motorcycle. In fact, despite its air cooled engine, they aren't really thrilled with the zr7 because it's too modern. LOL.
