Guys,

So i just bought the Cycle Shell (www.cycleshell.com) for my 2011 Ninja 1000. I had mentioned that the wife had hit me with a Divorce - and of course gets the house while my kids are growing up. So i have no garage where i'm currently staying. But i do have a yard. So i just plunked down $405 ($325 + 80 shipping) for the cycleshell. It is shipping out today fedex. Should arrive in a week. A friend of mine here has it and swears by it. He's had it for 3 years. He said his needs a new cover (new cover costs around $120) - but that's pretty good for 3 years. I live in the Northeast (New York, Long Island). I called the company and they say the snow and wind will NOT be a problem. The guy said to just clean off any snow that piles up on it after a snow storm is over so the snow doesn't melt - then freeze and get super heavy.

I'll give you guys a full report when it arrives, including some pics of it with my bike inside it. Figured there may be some of you looking to buy it or something similar.

whoah! that thing looks cool. Overkill to put one IN your garage to keep dust and bugs off your ride??? Would be cool if they made a lightweight version for indoors.

Ok - so my Cycle Shell has arrived. I have to say i am very impressed with it. It comes fully assembled. It is built very well. Looks to be of excellent quality. You just drop it where you want to put it, and unfold it. It comes with the side-stand plate detached. You screw it in yourself for proper placement. It also comes with a front wheel chock that you can install if desired. The cover attaches very securely with 2 metal pegs. It also has 2 tie-down straps, and velcro around the base to keep any debris, water etc out. I had a few very windy days and the cycle shell handles them without any problem at all. See attached pics.

I was waiting for you to say:

I had mentioned that the wife had hit me with a Divorce - and of course gets the house - so I get to live in my Cycle Shell.
I hear nothing but good things about these. Just m,ake sure you don't climb inside and run the bike while it's closed. Yes, I did read about a guy who did...

I'm in Smithtown. Believe me - if the future ex-wife could - she would sawzall my Ninja in half! Just to spite me! She hates (and i quote) "everything about it"- as she told me the day I picked it up. LOL

Maybe Divorce isn't such a bad thing after all!?! Like the line from the movie Terminator "You don't mess with a man's bike. Back away before i put you down son..."

Nice, most of my family is in Smithtown. I ride with my Father in Melville and my Dad's buddy in Bay Shore. Come out for a ride!

I'm right there with ya OP! Very similar stories it would seem. My wide and I separated in February and I moved out. Lived in a couple places before getting my own apartment. Sold the '10 650R I bought last year, and bought my '11 N1K. Now I lost my garage, so am looking at winter storage options. I've had several offers from friends, but I'd really prefer to keep it with me so I can play with, mid or ride it any time I feel like it all winter long without imposing on people.
I've checked out a few products like the cycle shell, including this one: http://kingston-newhampshire.olx.co...otorcycle-the-new-cycle-enclosure-iid-8070932 Not sure how this one would hold up in the snow, as the ad doesn't mention it, but it's worth a phone call.
Good luck with everything!

I felt the same. A few friends offered to garage my bike for me but i wanted to be able to go out for a ride on the rare beautiful winter day. The cycle shell is supposed to handle snow without any problem. A friend of mine has had it for 3 years. You just have to dust off the snow after the snow storm. Otherwise it will melt and then re-freeze turning into ice which is much heavier. The worse that could happen is the center supports could crack which are fiberglass. The company sells replacement supports for $20 bucks. But when i spoke with the owner he said it can handle 3-4 feet of snow with no problem as long as you dust off the snow when the storm is over you'll be fine.

The cycledome from the "car condom" link up there looks comparable and costs less. I think I'll call the company and see about snow resistance....

Also, I'm wondering if my bike will fit inside while on both a front stand and rear stand, aka enough room front to rear? I suppose I could actually just put it on the stands and measure for myself, huh?? :)

OP, do you have front and rear stands? If so, can you confirm that the Ninja fits inside the shell while up on front and rear stands, and also, did you get the sportbike size or the cruiser size?
Thanks~
