Just finished the install of my GPS Navigation system for my 7s. This puppy gives me Full screen maps, Rest Area Info, Current Location, Current Real Speed, Estimated Time of Arrival, Logs the trip in miles, Gives me my Average Speed and my Max speed. Also has a compass and Clock. And it's also Back Lit for night Time!!!! It runs on 2 AA batteries and that lasts for about 8 hours. I'll be posting Pics as soon as they get developed! The Unit Costs less than a Slip-On pipe! $245.

Re: GPS Hard Wiring

They offer a Cigarette Lighter Adapter for the unit. If someone is a crafty enough electrician maybe they could Hard Wire the puppy. I just have Re-chargeable Lithium Batteries. The unit I have is the Garmin eMap. You can get one for around $189.00 from GPS City . It shows your current location on a moving map which makes the trip all the more fun so you know what's coming up ahead and how long it's gonna take to get there to see if you've got enough gas.
GPS

The unit has pretty much every road covered in my local area. I bought the Unit with a CD that has the entire U.S.A. Roads on it. You just hook the unit up to your computer and upload the areas that you want detailed information for. It doesn't give turn by turn directions, but it does show you where you are and where your next waypoint is and tells you which direction to head to get there. I snapped some pics of it "in-action" so you can get a better idea. I'm pretty sure they have this same unit at Best Buy near the Car Audio Department, so you might want to check it out at your local store.
Re: GPS

The unit is made by Garmin, I'm told they are the leader in the industry. And the model is called the eMap. I purchased the deluxe version which includes a Data Cord to upload maps from your PC, a 8 MB Chip to store the maps, and a CD which contains maps for the U.S. Also with the purchase I got a Handle Bar mount which I mounted just to the right of the left grip. Pictures should be up by the end of the weekend.
RE: GPS Maps

I'll look into this. I know that you can get an update coupon for a new cd, but not sure if you can just download off the internet. By the way, I'll be scanning in the pictures tomorrow!
