After reading about the flash and actually speaking to Ivan on the phone I think I may take a roadtrip to hand deliver my ecu to Ivan. He's only about 300 miles away so it's easily doable in a day. Any downsides to getting it done? Should I wait until my 12 month factory warranty is expired? I didn't bother buying an extended warranty.

Also, i may be moving to TX soon and certain counties require emissions testing. Would this flash effect the emissions?

The reflash is well worth the cost. Smooths out the power curve and a bit more power to boot. I believe the lower end of the power curve is richer after the reflash so don't know if that will raise a red flag with the emissions folks or not. It's good that you will take the bike to Ivan as he can check your A/F in his shop before you leave. That may help. Mine runs great after I found, with Ivan's help, that the throttle position sensor was set wrong at the factory.

After checking Ivan's site again I notice it does say that his reflash may not meet federal emissions standards. Guess I'll have to wait until i move to see if I'll be required to get tested or not.

What state are you in? I live in one of the most restrictive states, Massachusetts. We have safety testing and visual exhaust inspection (really depends on where you go as to if they care at all). So far, no emission testing on any motorcycles.

Just read that diesel engines and motorcycles are exempt from emissions testing in Tx. I'm back in business!

Sweet. I haven't dealt with Ivan for ECU programming, but I have spoken with him and purchased several jet kits and utilized his advice in the past. I doubt you could go wrong in dealing with him. He knows his stuff (PC word for what I meant).

Ivan's ECU flash is an awesome mod. Most people are amazed. Enjoy it while we can, smog testing is coming for bikes. It's just a matter of time.
