Installing ZX14 4-2-1 Exhaust on Concours

30593 Views 40 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  MOND63
Decided to take the plunge and install a 2012 ZX14R Header/Exhaust System on my Connie.

I just dont like the looks of the Single can on it. ZX14 header tubes are much wider and only one free flowing CAT as well so will breath a lot better. Not sure if I'll be picking up any signifigant performance but the looks will be worth the work. Muzzy does a mod for the center stand and has the hangers I need.

Not sure when I'll get it done, but pulling the trigger on the headers. Have a feeling I'll be squirreling away the parts throughout the year on this. Not like they're small parts.

Those pipes will look great on your Connie Ras, just like you thought.. :righton:
That's going to be amazing.

Ras, you need to resurrect the Connie board. I always come over here to browse around but it's dead to rights.

I may be looking for a Connie in the next year or so.

Thanks! I think so too.

Had to buy a hanger from Muzzy for the left side. 90.00..Ouch!

Muzzy also sells a center stand for 160.00 including coring out my stand. All they do is weld an extension on the piece that you stand on so it does hit the mid-pipe. The side stand also needs to have a little bit of a bend put on it for the same reason. I can handle that part with a torch and vice.

I have no regrets buying the connie. Its an amazing machine

Going to look more like the FJR with the dual exhaust. I just rode my Connie 3500 miles. The only time I don't like the Connie is when I have to go slow. It is easier to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. When I crossed in AR and the speed limits dropped 20 mph on the same roads I was having a real hard time slowing down, but I didn't want to risk a ticket for 30 over.

And the roads are in such good shape in that state...makes it even harder to slow down!

Thats all good Ras. Hope you have a very enjoyable & safe ride. But lets see some pics of that beast with the new ZX pipes on it.

Too busy riding and working man. I just took on a new major accounts division and thats having me all over the map..States include (as of today): CA-AZ-MN-WI-IL-PA-NY-NJ-MD-DE-NC-SC-GA. I've dropped IA-OH and KY but will still be consulting there as needed.

That's quite the territory you have there....

LoL..And thats only what's been disclosed on my initial inquiry. I have a feeling it may be more expansive but it's all travel no matter where Im working. Just have new scenery.. I love the Meadowlands area and Moonachie..Not!!!..
It does however put me about 3 hours away from my hometown in NorthEast CT..Go Huskies!!

Too bad you couldn't just hop on the bike and make your rounds. I know I would figure out a way to do just that.
We think alike. Spent an hour on Google Maps last night. My only one day hoppers are my IL, MN, WI accounts. Everything else I'd have to leave on a Sunday which might not be a bad deal on a 2 week trip in some areas with good riding close by I could hit over the weekend. Charlotte NC or Duncan and Columbia SC puts me close to good riding.

Update! I decided (actually with wife's help) that the Chrome 2006 Cans look too hokey so I got a Smoking hot deal on a pair of 2014 ZX14 Cans that were taken off the bike in the showroom when they upgraded to an aftermarket exhaust. These puppies have ZERO mile on them.
I was going to powder coat the 2006 ones earlier in this thread. Cost would've been 75+ each. I got these for 80 each including shipping. WOW!:Wow1:

Do you expect having to modify the pipes to clear the luggage or is it a drop-in deal out back? I want to bend my pipe to make the can parallel to the ground. May buy a complete second exhaust to experiment with it on the 7.

Are you done yet? Are you done yet? :smokin: I likes the ZX pipes better but I'm a chrome whore.
Are they gonna be on your bike when we see you in NC? :headbang:

The Can will end up maybe half an inch higher. Header is a direct bolt up and mount points for mid-pipe and Can matches up perfectly. The Engine is a detuned ZX14 engine.. Had to pay 100.00 to Muzzy for the left hanger. The part of the center stand you step on need to be extended out about an inch to clear the mid=pipe. Muzzy offers this for a marginal fee but I'll weld one up myself.
