Just finished reading it. Kudos to Kawasaki. I was looking at a black one at the dealer the other day. Sharp looking bike.
The Ducati looks awesome and is awesome on the track and at track speeds. It wins. Period.

Manuer. Poop. Feces. Etc.

I thought like that until I put a list of pros and cons on paper....
The Z1000 flattened the competition.

my needs (lol) were:

wallet friendly!
wheelie machine!!!
everyday ride.
Tour and be comfortable! *full shoulder seperation on my right.

and most of all service. my shop provides!

I win. :alcy:

I think he was being sarcastic. If you just read the comments, it sounds as if the Z1000 was the winner. But, then they say how much power the Ducati has and how great it is on the "track" that they have to choose it as the best "street" fighter. What a crock.

Yes, I couldn't find the "sarcasm" emoticon.
By their own admission the Z1000 is a much better street bike & the Ducati is only good at the track! Yet they still put the Ducati as the best Streetfighter!
Go figure???
 I'm not knocking Ducatis but why is the price so high for such a crude rattling vibrating falic symble . Wouldn't a Harley fill the bill for that kind of money? The Kaw shoulda won based on price alone . :agree:
Interesting thing with their scoring (suspect at best) If you give a 1, 2 or 3 for the position they came in instead of first being 2 points ahead, there is only 1 point difference between the Ducati & the Z1000 in the total points alloted. Might make for a better track bike, but definately not on the street.
It says drop a couple pounds and add a few ponies and they'd be a winner. So for $1400 dollars I can add a full Akra and power comander, which adds 14 hp and shaves 22lbs, and I'm still $5000 dollars cheaper than the Ducati. Not to mention the cash saved on valve adjustments. The Duc has it's place, just not in my garage.
If you put the MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR in to this mix.

I read about a fair fight, day to day riding + track riding, of 1090RR and Streetfighter S.
The Brutale won on an day to day basis and for being more comfy and still offering brute down low grunt.
The Streetfighter didn't prove better at track than the Brutale either.
Both expensive though!
Even so, many times a dressed up original bike end up costing as much if not more.
What i wonder mostly, is what KTM really did to miss out this fight!
The ever postponed Venom model, could have been a blast with the 1190 engine.
Even so, we could put up, the all new 2011 Speed triple, as a contender.

here's a comparison with the MV990. Seems like the Z1K wins hands down once price enters the comparison.

I find this strange. They say that the brakes on the Z are better than the KTM. This simple statement is false. The KTM uses a radial front master cylinder. What i think is going on is they were to afraid to pull the brake. I've ridden the superduke and find it's brakes to be far superior. But as far as everything else goes, the Z dominates :)
