Hi,

There is this ninja a short ways away from me that I am looking into. It sits year round and I was going to speak with the owner about it. However, I'd like to do some research of my own beforehand. Unfortunately, possibly due to aftermarket fairings, I am unable to identify the year and model. I am pretty sure it is a 250 but I can't be certain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yer right it's a 250. Difficult to tell the year, they made that model over 10 years. The stripes are hideous, I sure as heck hope they aren't OE. I would not get set on that one, look around, and if you can get a deal on it maybe.

Those are not aftermarket fairings. They just pin striped them.

The Ninja 250 was made for 21 model years. 1986-2007. There were minor changes over the years. The owner should have the title which you definitely want to see. Make sure it is in his name. Check with your state DMV. If it hasn't been registered for a while, special paperwork might be required to keep you from having to catch up on the registration.

Check out www.totalmotorcycle.com. to look at the specs over the years.

There is a site called motorcyclespecs, has a ton of brands and years, I use it to identify different year bikes and specs. Not all pics are exact but 99% are spot on. I have used it to see the difference in years and models, good for research like this. Sometimes you cansee one bracket or seat style or something that helps peg the exact year. Here is the link, has a lot of brnds and many models from each.

Many are european and American spec so just be aware many of the bikes there never came to the USA
