Help 09 Lower Fairing Bolt size

6791 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  NeekoX
When washing the 650 this morning I noticed 2 bolts missing, one from each side lower fairing. I am assuming this is due to my own dumb-assedness and I must have not tightened them enough so they vibed out or I lost or tossed them when I installed the slip-on a couple of weeks ago. :thud:

This is an 09, and I need to know the spec (thread size/pitch) for the bolt that attaches the lower to the lower-most, rear-most bracket, the one that is closest to the exhaust and footpeg setup. There is one per side (not the 3 smaller ones per side that go through the rubber things) and I believe they are the same size from one side to the other?

I imagine I should be able to replace them at any auto parts/hardware shop?

6mm silver allen head bolts - $1.00

They are listed as 6x16 but actually they are 6x14
You will have a hard time finding allen bolts locally,
unless it from a metric fastener store.
Hex heads should not be a problem.
M6 1.0 thread pitch

Thanks!
Not your fault. Kawi's..... my lower bolts constantly come out, i keep replacing them... i'm thinking of just getting a washer and nut for the inside

Try a dab of blue locktite.
Sweet (that it wasn't me)!!! OK, so I'll sleep better then. I will do some loctite since I've got some handy and if that doesn't do the trick then next time it'll be locknuts.

Thanks again, guys.
Hey BRP,

This is probably a dumb question but how do the dzus fasteners work? Do they require installing a new mount to thread into? If so are they easy to install?
