Just want to know what hearing protection you guys are using.

Here's what I use. It's filtered custom earplugs from a company called Big Ear and I bought one because my boyfriend said he's gonna pay it. LOL!

I started using earplugs last year when I had some trouble with my hearing after I ruptured both my ear canals from snorkeling. Now they are still very sensitive to noise and I just want to take care of my ears/hearing as much as possible.

Any stories like mine? What hearing protection do you use and why?

You really notice it on long trips but it's easy to overlook it on those short 15-20 min commutes and you forget that the damage done is cumulative (twenty 5 min rides is the same as a single 100min ride.)

Same, over long trips, using orange plugs. Short trips, I listening to music thru ear buds.

I tried some with the "filters" but found they didn't block enough (have super hearing).
These block a little too much but I can still hear music at full volume and most conversations

My brother is an Industrial Hygienist and use to work for OSHA. He recommends Moldex meteors. They are green in color and have a part # of 6870. He says it's important to straighten out your ear canal before inserting. You do this by reaching over your head and pulling the top of the ear up and away and then inserting the rolled up plug. I also find that it helps to drop your lower jaw a little

This is the first time I saw someone mention Big Ear. I've been using hearing protection products made by them for years. I even have this custom earbuds that they have. Their products are pretty versatile! Great to know I'm not the only one.
