Alright, here we go....a quick and dirty for you all.

I have been looking for a handlebar riser solution for about a year now. Recently came across Home | SpeedyMoto, which, just happen to be located here in the Northwest (Portland). Called them yesterday, asked them to take some measurements for me, which they did gladly, couple of emails, couple of phone calls, and they shipped them to me same day. Just picked them up now, and here are some preliminary pics for your drooling pleasure. I'll do a complete write up in a new thread once it is all fitted, but for now, here are some relevant observations

  • The riser is mounted in teh middle of the clamp, not forward of the clamp. Perfect! Exactly like the stock risers.
  • The clamp is exactly the same height as the exposed fork tube (I have lowered the front of the bike). Perfect!
  • Their "Omni Bars" have a bend in them that allows you to pivot them in the clamp to get the best angle. Saweet!
  • The fit and finish is top drawer and the powder coating is some of the best I have seen
  • Details like the painted hash marks on both the inside of the bar clamp and on the bar are proof these guys know what they are doing

Now for some pics

Great hunting cooldaddy.
Which models is this. Just checked the website and looks like The Tall Boy 50mm is this correct?
This might be the best solution of all
Thx

I like those Speedy Moto bars a lot. They look like the Driven clip-ons I have for my 250 track bike. You can just tilt the risers on those forward and backward, where Speedy's have the the angled bars. Combining these bars with the Driven risers is almost the perfect clip-on setup.

Design-wise, I think the Apex clip-ons are more adjustable. But these have a smaller profile, which is my biggest gripe with Apex. Perfection is a tough thing to achieve...

they are the 50mm risers. Their 75mm risers would put the bars exactly 10mm higher than the stock bars. Their 50mm risers put the bars 15mm lower. All measurements are where the bar attaches to the riser, from top of triple tree to top of bar clamp. Of course, where your hands actually are is a completely (and far more difficult) measurement.....its coming, I just need to set up about 12 lasers in my garage lol

Wednesday morning update..........turns out I actually prefer using the stock bars instead of their Omni Bars. It provide the changes I wanted. If anyone is considering this modification, you may want to consider buying just their clamps and 50mm risers. Net results:

  • Same width as stock
  • Bar ends are now 2.25 inches lower than stock
  • No issues with hitting the fairing or tank
  • I am able to tilt the levers further downward such that my fingers are inline with my forearms

Those bars looks really nice, I almost want to just buy the bars and replace the stocks with those. Will they fit into the stock mount? I'm referring to just the bars, not the clip ons. I like the height of my stock bars but would love the angle that these bars have. That alone would make riding a lot more comfortable for me.

Hey cool daddy. Looking forward to full review. I am little confused though. If you are not going to use the bars, what it is it that you are accomplishing. What is the main difference from the stock clips to these ones. From what I can see from the pics, it seems the best part of this setup is the actual angled bars.
Definitely think you are on to something but as BoneChill was asking, do the bars fit into the stock clips?
If those bars fit I think I'm done looking.
Thanks again

You can buy mine. But, there is no way for the bars to mount to the stock risers, as the stock risers use a bolt in the end of the bar to hold it in place (no pinch bolts like what you see in aftermarket risers)

The combination of the speedymoto bars and the stock bars yielded the following change in dimensions:
  • Bar is 0.6" lower at inside of the bar
  • Bar is 2.5" lower at the outside tip of the bar
  • Ability to adjust the sweep of the bar (front to rear)

That's a bummer, I would like to find some simple bars that would just fit right into the stock risers. I'd really like to get that angle like the R1 has, it helps with my screwed up wrists as one of them doesn't like turning to the angle that my stock bars are at for extended periods of time. My friend has an R1 and sometimes it's actually easier to ride his bike than my own because of the angle of the bars.

Before purchasing my Apex bars I sent a question to the Murph's riser guys and they said it would be possible to just invert their product to lower the position vs. raise. It uses all stock components and just adds a small connector to acheive the lift (or in this case drop). The downside would be the stock flat angle of the bars, but you could adjust the height and sweep (by removing the pin just forward of the fork clamp). It was described as a small modification would be required to acheive the result (i.e. grinding of the locator pin on the stock bars since it's inverted), but otherwise pretty easy....but I didn't go that route so don't take my word for it, you'd have to check with them. Might be an option if you're looking to keep the stock risers and bars...

Hi, just wanted to say big THANKS for the helpfulness of your commentary and pics re installation of Apex 3" riser bars. I have just installed a set on my 2011 Ninja and, following much farting around, I am pleased to say that I think I have it right and riding with them has been like riding a new bike. It has seriously made me fall love with a bike that, until now, I just 'liked'. For me (at 6'4" tall) I really wanted to drop the bars a little, change the angle to a more natural swept back angle plus stretch myself out a little more on the bike. I have been able to achieve all that. However, I have settled for a set-up a little different to that you have use and illustrated so well in your pics. The clamp bolts in your setup are sitting around the 3 oclock (left) and 9 oclock (right) position. I have opted for something more like 5 oclock (left) and 7 oclock (right). This has allowed be to have a slightly more swept back bar angle. The risers are set at their max height. However, this set up has required some adjustments and compromise: I had to modify the bracket holding the brake fluid reservoir to allow the reservoir to clear the screen + lift the forks in the triple clamp a little (5mm) and, as it is now, I cannot lower the screen to the lowest position as otherwise both the reservoir and front brake bracket will hit it. I am happy to live with this small inconvenience. I have also installed bar end weights to reduce increased vibration through the bars - mostly successful but still a little more than previously. Not an issue though.

Anyway, thanks again to you and all others who posted their experience with this mod. I would not have attempted it without your tips and advice. I have only one thing to take issue with... I can't see any way you can complete this job in just two hours!!! Maybe I'm just slow, but even with a mate helping me we mucked around for at least 5 or 6 hours before finally getting it right - and then the next day after riding some I adjusted things again. Happy riding. pete (Sydney)

Glad to hear the install went well. This bike is awesome, I'd usually have traded for something new by now but this bike is sticking around for a few seasons!
