Anyone have a recommendation for hand guards that will beat the wind on the ZR-7? Naked version, not the S. The Googler has come up dry.

So far my chest and face are still warm, but even with the cold weather gloves my fingers are turning red.

Thanks!

I looked at a variety of hand guards but, seems a lot of them use the handlebar ends for strength and as a mounting point and I didn't want to remove my bar-end mirrors so, I bought a cheaper set made of durable plastic that didn't look too bad but they still looked like ones on a "dirt bike". Ended up not using them. You'll need to possible adapt or move things in order to mount them depending on where your brake reservoir and switch housings, etc. are for them.

I'm trying to recall which other non Kawi bike you could use the hand guards off of. I think it was a Bandit or Vstrom. I recall they did need a bit of customization.

Here's a thread about it: http://www.riderforums.com/showthread.php?t=21305

Even though the stuff is S related, it's exactly the same for a non-S. Likely even easier as you don't have the issues with the fairing getting in the way.

You can also get the muff type ones, made by Givi and others.

And finally you can buy heated hand grips. There are the brand name ones as well as $16 cheapy Amazon ones from China (this is how I went)

Thanks guys! I like the looks of the Vstrom ones, but of course my Dremel is out of state. Most muffs give me a little pause due to looks and because I worry I might want to take a hand off the bars for minute to loosen up and then not be able to get my hand back in while riding.

I ordered a set of these:

Hoping Prime shipping will get them to me Friday for my Saturday morning ride. I will probably try to tint the reflectors or replace them with white to better match the blue bike. I haven't put my bar end mirrors on yet. Not sure if they will work with these, but if not they can wait until spring.

I'll see how well they work or if I need to step up to heated gloves or bars. As an added plus, they are less than half the cost of the Vstrom's, even if they are considerably more chintzy.
