Here's some Givi stuff I mounted. Hope I can clarify some options for those they might want to go a similar route. Here's my 3 bag Touring setup. Monokey E360 (40 liter) side cases) and Monolock (scooter) E350 Flow top box.

Here's my commuter setup. Same top box but replace the side bags with E21. The flat black stuff is cheap (compared to painted) and works good with the blurple color, IMHO.

I ordered the PLB436 sideracks and the PB02 top rack to make the 3 bag setup. In the pic I have removed the PB02 and replaced with a Z340 Monolock Adaptor. This adaptor is specifically made to work with the PLB436 sideracks.

With that setup, you can now mount any Monolock (scooter) bag on the top. The pic shows the width of the mount.

Here's the Z340 Adaptor plate. Notice the slide in mounting bar is different than the 2-tab type mount of the standard PB02 (next pic).

This pic shows the PB02 Top Rack (monokey - motorcycle) that normally mounts with the PLB436 sideracks. It's a cast aluminum, note the slide in tabs for the bags (differ from Z340).

On the right is a plastic adaptor that comes with any Monolock/Scooter top box. They say it should work with most any flat rack. Think that means rounded bars on a rack as well, like the motospecialties.com rear rack.

And last, here's the adaptor plate with it's snap in cover removed. You can see all the holes leave you plenty of options to bolt down this adaptor to a standalone rear rack. I can't remember what hardware came with it but have a bunch of leftover curved metal brackets and nuts and bolts. Glad I tried out the my options here. Now I can get a rear rack on another bike and move my top bag like you would move a tank bag over.

Nice set up Berto, You are the "Jack of All Trades" for storage on the ZR. You looks like you're definitely ready for the ROTR3.

Where does the Kitchen Sink, I know there's room for it somewhere? :D

He his the "jack of all trades" Ben. Ask the guy on the BMW who got the flat tire on the ROTR2...the same rider who got a speeding ticket a little later that same day... :D

Looking good Bert. :) Just one more month and couple of weeks now......

Did the rear turning signals replacement bracket come with the rack or is that something you had to fabricate?

Ed/Ben/Tom, Thanks! My old high school nickname comes back to haunt me "ol reliable". :D No, officially, I was never a boy scout.

Ces, The rear turn signal brackets are designed as part of the rack, no mods needed. They move right over - you should take the most direct wire route as extends the stock wiring some, but no mods needed there either.

Andre, I see them as investment, can move from bike to bike with various combo's to meet the need. Those kids aren't paying rent? Don't they know you need Givi's? :?

Where did you get the bar ends?

Berto,

I love the look of those handlebar "bar ends"!

Where did you get them and how much were they?

Also, was there any problem fitting them on the stock handlebars?

Hi Bert! or should I say Inspector Gadget? Very nice set-up.

On last year's ride on the ridge, Mike got a flat tire on his beemer, and WHAMM! out comes the electric air pump from the depths of Bert's swiss army knife. You da man.

But seriously, I really like the color matched belly pan and chain guard. Did the previous owner do that or you? I'd like to know about how much to expect to pay for a job like that.

The bar ends are actually cruise control, Throttlemeister. Shame is - never had the need to try them out in 2600 miles.

the Dawg already purchased an ST1100. Where he lives is very flat and wide open plus he was hoping it a little less stressful on his wife's back. Haven't seen him post since then, must have gone on to the Honda forum. :mecry:

I'm sure I'll never be able to match up to Berto's swiss army knife accesories but I did purchase a "Stop -n- Go" fix a flat, the one that you can pump up by plugging into your spark plug hole. I have a question; In the directions it says to take out the spark plug and to make sure you ground the spark plug wire while the engine is running for pumping up the tire. ** How do you keep the spark plug wire grounded while the bike is running? Hopefully I'll never have to use it but better to be safe then sorry.

I have also bought a First Aid kit from REI, it's for a multi person / week long hiking. Again hope to never use it on me or anyone else on the ROTR3 but better to be safe then sorry.

I have fit a Phoenix jacket and vest in one side of the little E21's - 21 liter each. My First Gear Kilamanjaro can fit in one of those.

Don't know yet on the E360's (40 L each), but given the size I should be able to equip a week long tour fairly well. The top is 35 liter and a full face helmet plus a vest, shirt, gloves easily.

The E21's are very useful since they open at the top, nothing spilling out. Those bags you got will hold quite a bit when expanded - so practice, practice, practice. ;)

Have a few of those plastic sealable bags, put a days worth of clothes in each so ya don't have to unpack 3 bags each day. Dirty ones in a bigger sealable. Hazel still giving me sh##t for a missing 7th pair of socks on one trip. :nono:
