I have 8500 miles on my 2006 Meanie and am looking for new tires. I was surprised to find that the "stock" tire size 130/90-17 does not exist for FRONT tires [anymore...?]. I have found plenty of rear tires in that size, but I do not want to put a rear tire on the front of my bike. Others I have talked to say I can use a 130/70-17, but this would (if I am calculating my tire codes right) make my tire height go from 117mm to 91mm (from top of rim to top of tire).

I have looked everywhere and cannot find ANY front tire in the 130/90-17 size. Does anyone else have this problem? If you are running 130/70-17's how does the bike handle or look different than when you had your 130/90-17 OEM tires on it?

Also, if I change my front tire size, how does this effect the speedometer reading?

I'm running the 130/70/17 front tire which is the OEM specified tire size. You can get the Avon Ultra II Storms for front and rear in the OEM size, they're reasonably priced, handle awesome and should give you 10,000+miles of wear.

Are you sure you have 90's on now?
I thought I did as well after reading several MS specs that said 90's, but when I checked my actual tire it was 70.
Until someone proves me wrong, I'll assume that the info about 90's is a typo of some sort.
(btw, I'm running 130/70 Avon roadrider rear tire in front. Works like a charm!)

Also, if I change my front tire size, how does this effect the speedometer reading?

Speedo measures rear wheel as far as I know.

I just bought a front and rear Bridgeston Exedra 850/851 from Rockymountainmc 2 weeks ago. They have the 130/70r17 in all different brands, cheap too.

I guess it goes to show that you should always read what you have ON your bike as opposed to what is listed in every specification sheet I have found. I am running with 130/70-17's. How messed up is that???
