Final Drive oil ?

Time to change up the gear oil. I go AMSoil in the engine and wouldn't argue with going synthetic in the final drive as well.

Any recommendations out there?

I have Mobil One 75W-90 in mine.

Jon
I use either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple depending on what the local auto place has.
I fill mine with nothing but seafoam and NOS energy drink. :silly:
I was gonna use peanut oil so that when it heats up, it smells a bit like Five Guys burgers n fries!! :D

K, call me dumb, what if I walked into Advance Auto, what would it say on the bottle if I were looking for the BEST option. Price = no object (I treat her well and neglect my family. HA!!! just joking...) ;) :D

Any chance of getting a shake out of the coolant system?

Jon

Thanks much. I've got a few in the area. Just picked up 4 qts of oil the other day, so I'll just head back in to see if they have this stuff and I'm good to go!

Just a heads up .. it is cheaper to buy by the case than by the QT (in the long run), as long as the dealer passes down the savings

I don't think that for the life of the bike I'd ever need a whole case of the stuff! lol But thanks anyway.

I thought you meant regular oil for the bike when you said you bought 4qt last week

Oh, I gotchya now. lol Well, only change about once/year, so 4qt or about $40 isn't too bad for an annual expense. :)
Blame PennDOT for the construction and detour... I went with Mobil 1 synth. $10.99 at Advanced Auto. Had to stop in for some anti-seize and junk for the plugs, so I figured one stop shop. Don't think I'll notice any difference, but peace of mind is always a good thing! :)

Thanks for the help, dudes.
so I changed my final drive fluid today,,,manual says 200ml...seems to me it too a little more than that..I had a brand new measuring cup so I new it was 200 exactly,,but I had to add more to get it up to the threads..

that ok?

With bike level, the fluid should be level with the bottom threads of the filler hole. It seems that's what you did.
Sounds about right to me. I was alone when I did mine, no stand, just left hand on the bars tipping the bike GENTLY to upright position and right hand squirtin' in the juice. I filled till it started to leak out the hole - to the threads for sure! Plug it, wipe the mess, have fun! :)
I use my perfectly calibrated eye. Measuring cups are what the wife uses to make me dinner.
