HI All,
well over the years I've owned over 150 bikes. Most, probably 90 % were donated crash bikes. When I'd get 2-3 of the same model, I'd build one runner and sell it. 20 years ago I had difficulty keeping all these bikes as I had a small lot and had to rent space, ,but I was making $ selling completed bikes & parts to more than cover my expenses.
This really helped when we were raising kids the extra $ helped. I even built a website, but had ZERO sales from it, and it took way to0 much time to maintain. The kids left, we bought a house in the countryside, moved 75+/- bikes to the new house. Sold 9+ in first 10 years, but was finding customers on newer sites (facebook, etc etc) always trying to get me to lower the prices Before they even submitted bids............there was a reason I priced things the way I did. Pretty much stopped making $ and giving away more parts than selling.

It got to the point where it just wasn't worth my time anymore, plus the wife said "....you can keep 3-8 bikes, the rest have to go...."

So I've been taking 1-2 bikes to the junkyard,/ recycling center, costing me $10 + time to take out batteries, cut rims to get tires off etc etc.

I really need to redo my website and start selling the ones I have left before I junk them, I guess. Just hav eto find the time.

I'm kekeping my Kawasaki's 250/350's/500 triples, the ZR-7S, honda spree, Elite, cb750, suzuki 550's....Opps that's more than 8, like 13 or so. Wonder if the wife will notice that I'm building a new small 12x14 shed for the keepers :)
Peace,
michel

Now down to 63 motorcycles. Trashed a few KZ400's and a CB450.
A problem has developed, (called the WIFE) whom doesn't like my location of the new shed. Will have to dismantle the flooring joists and find a place where she "likes" it. :) Already have enough free metal roofing form my little brother. Actually probaably enugh to make the walls with the sheetmetal....could also have contributed to the wife's objections. Who knows the mind of a wifey? I don't.
And I was considering the need for my measly four bike collection. You have me beat. 🍻
If you have anymore Kwaks such as the kz400, there’s guys over at the KZRiders site that will buy. Or pretty much anything air cooled.
I;ll check out KZRiders site before I get rid of more of them. :)
The KZRiders website is not very well set up for sellers, plus it says in the "welcome" statement that sales are sorta prohibited. Nah, I 'll just keep dumping the bikes at the dump. Not worth my time, actually. Only have 3-4 maybe 5 KZ400's to dump.

I think you need a minimum amount posts. Where are you located? I could make a post.
I checked out the KZRider site and it takes just a couple of hours to get approved. It is a very active site for the old air cooled Kawasakis. A lot of knowledgeable members.
hi Zed7, I'm in southern,,vermont, usA

I’m in Boston. My long rides where I ride 116 in Mass, I cut up to Jacksonville, Vt and run 8a and 112. Those make for 400 mile days. I haven’t done one in a while. Western Mass and Southern Vermont make for nice riding.
I had made a query on the KZRider site without giving any hint of you as a member of this site. I hope you’re not upset but there was some interest already. It’s completely up to you if you wish to proceed with the website rather than Craigslist or Facebook.
In my experience with at least new, late model bikes, the owners groups are notoriously cheap when it comes to buying because they already own the motorcycle. It may be a different story though, when they need parts for parts or complete bikes long gone out of production,

thanks Zed7, I'll try to navigate their site again w/o failing their terms of service. I still have a complete KZ750, w/ a new battery, 2 sets of carbs = hydrostatically cleaned etc etc. Just need it gone.

I found it an easy site to join and I am the exact opposite of computer savvy. Their site is made up of mostly older guys, I’d say, with loads of expertise.
I joined years ago when I owned a KZ1000P police bike that I wanted to de-tune to get better gas mileage (I wound up going from low 30's mpg to high 40’s). Anyways, after I posted my thread, I was in contact, by phone, with a guy who was willing to help because, apparently, de-tuning a 1000J engine is against all motorcyclists morals. That member wanted my police needles, so we arranged a swap. He swapped me more conservative needles and full advice on rejetting my carbs. We spoke for a couple hours on the phone.
It’s a good, active site. I’m sure you’ll have success there. You may want to contact a moderator there and explain your wishes. Those guys love old Kaws.

You wouldn’t happen to have a Honda Helix would you?

Good idea. The funny thing is I wouldn’t have minded picking up an old KZ as a winter project but my reason for joining this site was because I had picked up a zr7S as my winter project.
I think I got two birds with one stone. The 7 uses an old GPz air cooled engine plus I got the benefits of a more modern frame and suspension which I upgraded. So I’m happy.
The only thing I’m back and forth on is the S front fairing. Sometimes I want to convert it to the round headlight zr7 ( especially if it decides to buzz). Sometimes no. But I think if I ever found a donor zr7 I would have a serious look. Maybe. I don’t know.

Down to 57 motorcycles now....
You must have a huge property. How are you selling them?
'm not selling them, I'm junking them. My property is 8 acres. My neighbor has 2,000

Oh dear. 😳

Anyways, I did a calculation. My property is 0.10 acres. (That’s point one). With a house on that, two sheds and a driveway… put it this way… I can mow my lawn and bag it in fifteen minutes. 👍

Yeah, my first house was similar, in middle of a small village, 0.2 acres, 3 car driveway, 1 small garage w/ a large house and neighbors on top of me on 3 sides. It was difficult to have 20 motorcycles there in the back. Had to rent a space for the other 80+.....that's One reason we moved out to the countryside where "A lot of traffic is..." when more than 2 vehicles go by after 19:00 hours. ;-) seriously.

Although I've gotten rid of many bikes in the past month, I usually take the carburetors , gas tanks/sidecovers and any "good" parts off first and store them in the 12 x 20 shed or in the garage.. especially when the wife starts complaining because she found me storing stuff in one of the extra bedrooms. She just noticed that last night. Opps!
:ROFLMAO:
