i just bought a 1991 ZZr250 for my first bike and because i haven't got my license yet i got my brother to ride it home for me and it went fine without any abnormalities. two days later we took it for a run around the block and found that when its in neutral it makes a heavy clunking noise but when you pull the clutch in the noise goes away. what would this be? i plan on getting it serviced when i get my license but im hoping it doesn't cost me much.

Check the chain for correct tightness, and give it a lube. Hopefully, that will do it.

I hafta wonder if the noise is while moving or sitting still. If moving then yea as has been suggested check your chain. I don't miss having a chain. I've heard some on bikes rolling down the road that you just know it's going to be coming off very soon.

Any chance of a youtube video of the sound?
