I have a concealed carry permit for carrying my handgun or other personal defense items. I was wondering if any of you carry concealed, and wanted to know how/where/what you carry so I can get some other ideas. I have talked to some riders who carry with an inside the pants holster, shoulder holster, middle of back holster, pocket holster, and in their tank bag.

I carry a small Kel-Tec P32 .32 cal pistol in my right jacket pocket every time I ride. I usually carry my Glock 17 in a backpack when I can, but usually not while riding. I prefer carrying a 9mm, so I have been thinking of investing in a Glock 26 or Sig Sauer 239.

Are things so bad over there that you feel the need to carry a gun at all?

BTW, that gun you are holding looks more like a toy! I have only fired a couple of guns in my life, one rifle(My old mans .22) and two hand guns(.45 Magnum evolver, and a 9mm semi-auto pistol) so I can't even relate how the calibre sizes work.

I've never been in a situation where I needed a gun, yet. That said, I don't want to be the guy who didn't have it when it was needed.

I have a Taurus millennium g2 that is always in the glove box of my Jeep. I have been meaning to try my holster out with my jacket to see if it's comfortable or even still concealable.

BTW - Don't think you're going to mess with my wife either, she carries a ruger lcr in .357mag.

I don't regularly carry while riding but when I do, I carry a Kahr CW9 in a homemade leather and Kydex IWB holster. It's my third Kahr (also had an MK 9 and a PM 9), so far it's been the most reliable even though it was the cheapest. The other 2 suffered some misfeed issues within the first few hundred rounds. I really like the size and slimness of the Kahrs. I have a Glock 17 RTF2 but find that way to bulky to conceal carry, besides it's usually equipped with an extended threaded barrel for my SWR Trident 9 suppressor. In the past I've carried a Glock 27 and a Glock 26 with a Crimson Trace Laser (too thick for me), a Springfield XD9SC (also too thick) and a Sig P239 in .357 Sig (great size but heavy and too "snaggy" for my liking).

Think about all the precautions you take every day that hopefully never be needed. Most people go through their entire lives without having something stolen, wrecked, house on fire, etc. But most of us have insurance for all those remotely possible situations.
Think of a firearm as insurance. You hope you never need it, but ilf you do, you are sure glad you have it.

To answer your other question, no it's not that bad here, but like anywhere there are neighborhoods you stay away from if you don't live there.

I pocket carry a Kel-Tec PF9 when not on the bike. I've only carried a few times on the bike and it's not the most comfortable so I usually leave it at home and stick with a knife. My rides and trips are never longer than a day and no overnight stays, otherwise I would find someway to bring with me. I also think about if I were to stop somewhere to eat and the establishment didn't allow firearms, I don't really have anywhere to store it.

I don't mean to ruffle feathers- but I have a permit so the state knows, I have a suppressor so the government and Interpol know, and you guys don't know who I am in general. So I don't see it as a big deal, but I respect your privacy, although your comment almost certainly gives you away.

I'm jealous! We have been working towards that, but it hasn't gone over quite yet. People legalizing pot all over, but I can't even openly express my seconnd amendment right. Oh well, that's a topic better left to a gun forum/ personal discussion type thing.

Zandit, I wasn't ignoring your question, I've just been working all day.
I got my permit for many reasons. When I first got it, it was because my father and I are in construction (contractor and subcontractor) and regularly carried large sums of cash individually and together for expenses. Unfortunately, you can't always choose where the job is and half the time it's in a very questionable neighborhood.
I also have had a couple of incidents when I was younger where I had a beretta 9mm stuck in my face because I walked up (by mistake) on a guy dealing drugs.
I won't get in to politics or the justice system, but in the U.S. we like to regulate the hell out of hard working innocent citizens, while we let hardened criminals off with a minimal 25 year "good behavior" sentence for killing women and children.

Yes, I choose to carry a gun most of the time, but I am very responsible and reasonable, and I'm never tempted to pull it out and go for vigilante justice. I only ever plan to use it for personal protection, protecting the innocent, against peoples with criminal intentions.

I hope I didn't over explain myself, and thank you for asking instead of just passing judgement.

BTW, that "toy" pistol, is very capable, although like I said, I would much rather carry something more powerful!

So guys, .22 or .40? Lol just kidding. Lean it, I do not carry concealed as California has pretty bad firearms rules. I dont agree with all of them but hey, I just did 10 years overseas and every country I was in I was not even allowed to own a weapon, so now I am taking advantage of being back stateside and having "some" of my rights restored . Glad you have a good head on your shoulders man, we need more responsible citizens that do carry, so when people genuinely ask legit questions on weapons, we can give well thought out answers. As with the bad image riders may give to others, being a firearms owner also usually comes with that bad image, at least with most of the people here in California that I have spoken with regarding the matter.

I have actually thought about how I would be able to carry while riding if it wasnt so hard (even for us military) to get a CC license. It would not be an easy task, especially since you most likely will want to carry inside your jacket. You would be wasting critical seconds if the situation called for you to have to draw. I understand not every situation will be like that, but at least in that particular situation it would be difficult.

@ Zandt, I have been to you country, not sure how some other areas are, but Darwin, Australia seemed pretty tame compared to other parts of the US that I have been to. Also I think you are trying to see if specific areas are populated with "bad" people. Yes there are areas like that all over the country, however, even in "good" areas, violent crimes can still occur. For me, why take that chance if you are in the position that he is in?

Wow man that was about 12 years ago lol! I was fairly new to the Military. Our ship did a tour and Darwin, Australia happened to be one of the stops. I ate at Hog's Breath and drank with my buddies. Good times! I also got to talk with the Aussie security guy. Me and him talked guns lol. He also talked about the crocs, the season for crocs, all the lovely animals that can kill you in Australia, which sounds like pretty much everything. I have a funny story on this. When we pulled into Darwin, the ships trash had to get offloaded and I was taking some off. After this, I stopped for a smoke( I used to smoke lol) and was watching a couple of long fish in the ocean swimming around. This one was about 4 feet long and had the shape of a needle fish or a barricuda, just cruising. Next thing you know he swims into a box jellyfish's tenticles, you hear a smack from the fish jumping out of the water and landing. That fish literally died in about a second. Seeing that pretty much killed my dream of swimming in Australia. I loved it there though. The only negative thing I can say about Australia is how they mistreat the Aborigani's. Not saying everyone did, but the overwhelming majority of peeps I saw were pretty bad towards them. Not sure what the back story is on this but I feel every human being deserves to be treated with respect.

I logged 30 something hours of dive time in 6 months living in Australia. Never been hit by a box or Portuguese man of war. It's about knowing when and where to swim. I did shark dives and still have all my limbs, too.

As for the aboriginals, Look what we "Americans" did to our native people when we colonized. It's all too familiar. You forgot to mention using it as a work camp for convicts. Although, these days those who have family dating back to a convict are incredibly proud of their family legacy.
