Yeah, but was anything changed from the 03-06 Z1000 to today's? I really liked the black Marchesini's on my Monster.
i really liked those wheels on your duc too! the carozzeria(sp?) are the cheapest, at around 1800 a set. ive been on the computer for hours everyday looking at different mods. my wife thinks ive fallen off the deep end. i need to see a shrink about my motorcycle obsession! :alcy:

Who makes directly bolt-ons? How much? How much lighter?

Anyone know?

Apparently, Marvic makes a set of Magnesium "Penta" wheels for our bikes. They're a small fortune though (Europe list price of 2200 Euro for the pair), usually sold around 1900 Euro / pair.

Magnesium wheels are traditionally 15-30% lighter than stock, which should make for better turn-in / braking / accelerating / bump-handling. BTW, what are the lightest tires for our bikes? For my car I try to get Michelin PSIIs partly because they weigh 3 lbs less than any other tire.

I know the guy from PS performance, I met him several times, check out his website ....

if you ever buy something there, let me know, I might be able to give you an extra discount.

the TL superbike and the GSXR are just out of this world ....

Has anyone thought about putting ZX-10 wheels on?

I've got to imagine they're lighter, but by how much. I like the design of them better than the 07 wheels, but would you actually gain anything?

There is basically no weight savings on the zx10 from the 03 z

Good to know. I don't think the wheel changed much between the 03-06 to the 07-08, so using the ZX-10 wheels would just be for looks.

edit: nevermind, there is no weight listed for the z1000 rear wheel
but here it is...
z1000 front wheel = 10.14
04-05 zx10r front wheel = 9.92
03-04 zx6r front wheel = 10.36

geez... was looking at the wheel weights for galespeed type c aluminums
here's the weights for the z1000
type c front = 9.70
type c rear = 17.41

my guess would be the z1000 rear wheel will be a similar weight as the 03-04 zx-6r, maybe slightly heavier, which is 18.07.

so after dropping nearly 2 grand on these wheels, you're not even saving .5 lb up front and MAYBE 1 lb in the rear! well... at least they look nice.
you're much better off going with any of the following
according to SportRider's wheel test with a gsx-r...

carrozzeria
fr 9.42
rr 14.02

marchesini
fr 8.82
rr 13.80

pvm y5
fr 7.96
rr 13.44
