Hi All, From the UK recently got a Z750 05 in Pearl Orange second bike after coming back to bikes after a 20 year break. Just started modding added a Pipe Werx Round Matt Black can, Integrated blinkers and about to add Ultra Low Renthals for a start. Like the forum some good info to be found.

New Rider

New to sport bikes and the forum. Just picked up a used '07 650r for $2900 w/ 5k miles on it. Came with PCIII and Two Brothers exhaust. Good condition. Registered for the MSF in a couple of weeks. Been riding dirt with a TT-R230 for a bit. Not long. Do okay on the dirt track. Crash a lot in the rutty, tight, technical stuff on trails. 6'2" 160lbs. 35 yo. First mod will be frame sliders. (Considering the ones from RG.) Any words of wisdom?

Welcome O2brutal,

I am a newbie myself. I took the MSF Basic Rider Course in July '09 and then I bought an '06 Ninja 650R back in August '09.

My advice is definitely take the course, and then take it easy for a while until you get a feel for the bike and the road. SEAT TIME has done a lot for me. Also, there are a few good books out there you might want to read --

David Hough's books, esp. "Proficient Motorcycling",
Lee Park's "Total Control", and
Kenny Condon's "Riding in the Zone"

are 3 I will recommend.

Enjoy, and ride safe!

Help out your fellow rider.

Hi
My name is Lukasz and I’m about to buy my first motorcycle. After searching for my perfect ride I run across beautiful 2001 SUZUKI GSF600S BANDIT 600S. I decided to buy it but before I do I need an advice from some experienced riders. Is 01 GSF600S BANDIT in good condition with 14,000 miles worth $3,000? Please help me out.

I'm also 5'8", but I'm 160 lbs. I have an 09 and I do not find it to be the intimidating or too tall, etc. It is a perfect fit, except the handlebars, which place my wrists at an unnatural angle, and the seat, which is not very comfortable over the long haul and is continually trying to push me into the tank. Most members seem to change out the bars and a great deal send their stock seats out to be modified.

250 riders seem to love the 250 for its fin factor as well as its ease of resale. The newer bodywork looks pretty bada$$ as well.

All in all, I do not think you can make a bad choice, but the 650 is obviously going to have more balls then the 250. Some might say go 250 if you've never ridden before, but I don't think that is a necessity. The 650 is far from a rocket.

I have a buddy at work that rides an 01 Bandit 600. It is a nice bike and fairly quick as a standard, but I think that you can find better, newer bikes for less. There are reports of leftover 09 (new) 650R's going for just over $4k.

I bought my 08 Ninja 650r about a month ago with just over 2300 miles for $3950, in perfect condition. So I would take a look at those. It is my first bike and I love it. It is light enough to maneuver easy and yet still has power to get up when it needs to.

This is my I'm new intro, I'm new to the forum and honestly rather new to street bikes, my first bike was a 99,gsxr 750 custom painted busa carbon fiber body kit, RAM air, fuel injected, thing had more done to it then ill ever know, great bike, I miss it, not quite the best learner bike, was a lot meaner then I ever imagined. Then I got a more civil 2006 Honda shadow aero, I love it as well, fully dressed out, all my friends call it my old man bike, I'm 21 so i just tell them Ive reached a further level of maturity. But its a good bike for long rides considering Im back and forth from Kentucky to mississippi I don't see them wanting to make the 12 hour trip on there ply wood seated r6s plus my shadow will keep up with what kind of riding we do, any who about two weeks ago I picked up a zr7s, I've fallen in love with this thing. And I've never even been on the thing, it was wrecked and needs a bit but I tore right into it, honestly I traded a tread mill for it, lol I'm happy. Soon as I hotbot home I took it apart put a new battery in it drained he gas, ran gas through the carbs and got it fired up, handle bars are bent down so I can ride it, then found that the forks are pretty much screwed, needs passenger rift foot peg/muffler hanger, already painted it black, recovered the seat and started polishing it, but I joined looking for parts, help, tips, and advice, hopefully no one decides to pick on the noob, I may be young but I'm not choldish and I'm not looking to argue with any one, but thanks for having me and I have a list of things I plan on getting forbthis bike really soon, ill go ahead and make a list, other then what I need id like 636 forks, tire hugger, smoked tail light/signal eliminaters, new drag bars grips and bar ends, fender eliminater, l.e.d. front signals, and smoked front wind screen, along with some sort of bottom fairing, can't make up my mind what style I like more, the French or the full. And some sort of slip on can, more then likely carbon as I'm planning on blacking out the bike, though he seat that is on it is currently cow spots, only Material i had at the time, but ill quit rambling now, thanks again for having me.

Whats up every one! I just want to get your advice on getting a new bike. I have a little experience in street riding, I live in LA and thinking of riding to work as soon I get comfortable, and confident. And also my work is about 40 miles one way. I have a lot of friends that ride but they have different advice on witch bike to purchase. My first choice is the kawasaki 650r and by the way i'm 6' tall and about 230 pounds. some of my friends say that it might be too small or I might out grow it right away. and also if you could give and advice if I should get a used or new, because I noticed w/ the kawasaki 650r price w/ the new one is not that big of a difference. Thanks for any advice you could give.

All I have to say is wind!!! I have 180 miles on my 650r and can't seem to get comfortable riding in a cross wind. I can't seem to relax and it makes things worse. I will keep practicing but dang.

Greetings, I'm the new guy. Ive got my learner's permit and MSF class set for May 20-23. I'm practicing in parking lots so as not to fall behind in class. Im looking for mature experienced riders to group ride and learn with in and around High Point and Greensboro. Let me know if you can help. Thx for this forum. --Wil

I'm your height and weight and bought the ex650r myself. I fit perfectly on this bike and was my first bike ever purchased. I believe I made the right decision with going with the 650 instead of the 250. The handle bars are set higher than other sport bikes so your not so bent over while riding AND I love that the muffler is under the bike so my wife won't burn her leg when we go 2 up.
