My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer almost 2 months ago. He is a big Harley guy and I wanted to be able to ride with him as much as I can before he reaches a point where he can no longer do so.
Congrats on the new bike. I just bought a 2013 650 myself. I'm a 3 year colon cancer survivor. Prayers for your dad...

New rider from Newark, NJ

Hello all,

I bought a used 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 650R on April 1st this year. I enrolled for a MSF BRC through Motorcycle, Training, Motorcyclist, New Jersey, MSF,NJ license,NY safety class on 04/07 & 08 I took and passes the course... Now after having gone to the DMV, I've got both the endorsement, and title/registration...

I'm all set, all legit, but still got to get the nerve up, this bike is much bigger than what was at the school GS250... I'm trying to get the hang of shifting... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

Yes! - What Smash said +693 - Then Ride the bike, ride the bike and if in doubt - ride the bike some more.

Work on smooth throttle technique - if you have stock sprockets front and rear, you are going to find that in 1st gear, this bike can be a bit 'choppy/jerkey' unless you are Mr. smmmoooottth on the throttle. One fix is to go up on tooth on the front sprocket - but that is more $ that if you don't have.... well then it MAY be something you save for. When done, your bike is not the quickest off the line - but, it's as Smash once put it, 'a more gentlemanly' ride - I'd call it more forgiving. Second, google 'twist of the wrist' on youtube - early 90's cheesy video with Keith Code - but good advice and somewhat fun to watch....

Last - start slow take your time and be patient with yourself - you will do fine - and when in doubt, ride the bike, ride the bike and last if you didn't catch it, ride the bike!

:wavehand:

Welcome

Hi, I am new to the Kawasaki Concourse 1400 abs. I bought a 2009 . I was a Harley bigger guy. I needed something smoother riding but not an old man bike.lol so I have lots of questions. Not sure if I should post them all here.
What type of oil? Where can I get a more comfortable seat? Where can I get risers for handle bars? Do i have to change wires ect...? Where can I get lowering brackets for passenger? What can I do to make passenger more comfortable? Its didn't come with owners manual so I don't know much about it except i like it so far. Taking a 300 mile ride tomorrow on it. My email is [email protected] feel free to email me or respond here all help is appreciated

Hi, I'm a noobie to the site and to street riding. I posted on the general page, then found this page, so I will post my question again. I'm 6'5" and about 240. I'm having trouble deciding on a bike and also finding a bike I fit on. I recently found a 2001 Kawasaki zR7-s for sale and thought it looked pretty good as I have been looking for a middle ground between a cruiser and a sport bike. I have limited flex in my right knee due to my prosthetic leg, so being scrunched up on a bike isn't really an option, being in pain would kinda take the fun out of riding. Any suggestions? Not really into the enduro/dual sports but understand if that is going to be my best option. Also, would the zR7 be too much bike for getting started, I know there are pros and cons for start small or start with whatever you want, but I would still like to hear some advice, personal experience, suggestions, or whatever you would like to share. Thanks.
