I've been looking to add hard luggage to my zr-7s (specifically, a top case). I've looked at some givi top cases and givi racks but am still undecided. Are there any other brands of top cases and racks out there for the zr-7?

I'm also curious about the handling of the bike with the topcase on. (Does it affect the handling adversely?)

Any advice, suggestion would be appreciated. (If you have pics of your bike with the case, that would be superb too).

:dunno:

I've got the full Givi set of side and top cases.
I usually only use the top case but I can get a full week's shopping done if I have the panniers on as well - - that does effect the handling but I'm not going any long distances.

As iRide stated the additional luggage capacity can come in handy at times.

do u use your topbox for takening the kids to school then GM :D

by the way zr7_interloper the only reasion why mine creates a small high speed wobble is because its old and moves around slightly on its base plate so a new one would probly be fine

I've got the Givi rack and E36 side cases and E45 top case. I love them and will probably never again own a bike without hard bags. I't never affected the handling but it does bring your fuel consumption down a bit. The Givi system is nice because one key works for all 3 bags and any bag can be placed anywhere on the bike. Completely waterproof and secure. The E36 side bags do look a bit weird on the bike but they hold a TON of stuff. It allows me to always be ready for bad weather. I always have a rainsuit and my electric vest on me. I can commute to work sice my laptop fit in it too. And yes, I have gone grocery shopping with it.

Wow, 3 pounds for a givi topbox...they should put you in charge of the UK treasury. That's a great deal :)

Beautiful views, GM. Very nice. Looks like your bike is in tip top shape.

No problem finding a cover. And to get the one key you probably have to order all 3 bags at the same time. I actually bought the side cases then bought the top case later on and couldn't get them to match keys. But as someone already pointed out, I don't know if Givi makes the rack/frame for the ZR-7 anymore.

Givi's quality on the E-21 side cases it not up to par with the rest of their cases. I have a set of the e-21s. they were on my bike for about 20K miles. they do not stay closed if loaded at speed. It is not fun picking up your things on a highway. the last 5k miles i had to have a bungee to keep them closed.

that would have been a nice touch, but bungee ties are better than using gaffer tape

I had a Renntec rack and a Shad 37L topcase on my ZR. it was light enough empty that I never noticed it. I usually carried my lunch box and a work uniform in it. Rode many miles after work like that, maybe 10 pounds in it. never noticed it. I had it loaded pretty heavy once and got a little wobble on decel if I sat up straight and took my hands off the bars. But no issues when riding normally. There are some pics of it here somewhere but they were posted around 2005. This is the only one i can find on my computer.

Nice pic, Jon.
Do you remember why you went with Renntec / Shad instead of Givi?
