ZZR impressions
Well, I have a few hundred miles on my ZZR, I thought I might throw out some riding impressions versus my 650R. (and a view from a small displacement bike fanatic.)
First thing I noticed is that the power delivery is very smooth. It's deceptive because the power is delivered a lot higher in the rpm range than a twin. But... There's a lot more of it...
I'm going to have to do a 520 chain coversion and a -1 +2 on the sprockets to get a bit more grunt.
The bike feels really wide from what I'm used to, but I'll adjust.
It handles EXTREMELY well. The lean in is a little slower than the 650R (mine was really modified for turn in though) but it's very well planted at 3/4 lean. (I haven't knee dragged it yet.) The bike actually feels more secure heeled over on it's side than in a straight line. (As it should.)
This bike looks a lot bigger than it really is, it's about 20lbs lighter and a 1/2 inch shorter than the 650R though.
My complaints:
The kick stand is a pain in the a$$, it's like a 2 step process to put it down. I have a set of GP pegs on order that should help make a little clearance. (My pants always catch on the peg)
The bike surges a little around 4k rpm while cruising.
I have a couple of goodies on the way, I got a Viper can and a stage 1 jet kit so I'll have to see how everything changes.
I'll try to post more thoughts before I return to Iraq.
