New to the forum figured i'd reach out to get some help
I have a 03 z1000 Noticed as the spring/summer time came around my bike has been running really hot 224-230°f at times when sitting at a stop light My issue is the fan is not turning on when its suppose to. It only turns on when I turn the bike off? So I'm thinking thermostat switch is bad or maybe fuse is blown.. also I want to do a DIY replace the coolant just not sure how to "bleed" the air out can any one provide tips/ steps how to do so as well? I live in a desert (so its always hot and dry) any recommendations for a good coolant given the bikes age and riding conditions.

Mine blew a fuse and wouldn't kick on. Had a mud wasp nest build up in the fan shroud. I know you say yours is intermittent, but it couldn't hurt to check your fuses.
